Frustrated

I had a appointment for my 36wks point and they gave me the utensils to give myself my own strep test and std.  Why didn't the obgyn do it idk. Then she tells me that she won't check me until I'm thirty nine weeks or until I start contracting.  I'm confused and upset.  I have never felt so distance from a doctor in my life. I know it's been six years since I have birth but is it really that way.

With my midwife I was given the swab and sent to the washroom to do the strep b test last pregnancy. I was ok with it.

But they checked me before 39 weeks. Some docs won't check before then...it's their view on things I guess. Although I was asked by my midwife I think at 37 weeks or so if I wanted to know what was going on down there and cautioned me that it could always jumpstart things or there was a slight risk she could break my water. I was too curious to say no!! lol
I'm SUUUPER excited for my appointment on Monday, I'm hoping she will check me, I want to know if I'm dialated or if my cervix is even softening because I haven't started on Evening Primrose oil or drinking my raspberry leaf tea.
