My grandmother gave me this tip when my children were babies. Wash your hands....get the tip of your finger wet, dip it in granulated sugar, put on the back of babies tongue. Voile' hiccups gone!
I only used this when it seemed as though they were lasting way too long. Sugar versus an aggravated infant. hmmm?
Think I'd try the sugar ! :)
Jazmine now PANTS on occasion after she gets the hiccups. I have noticed it several times (very rapid movement of my stomach that is not hiccups and moves along with her). I asked the doctor about this and apparently baby's practice breathing in the womb.
LOL it amused me too as i used to suck my thumb so now it makes me think maybe my little man will be exactly the same!!!
that's funny! we already have one thumb sucker... i wonder if we have another one on the way!!! :)
Since the start of this post i was a bit curious as to why they get them so i did some research and apparently it can be due to the fact that they have drunk too much amniotic fluid or sometimes even because they have been sucking their thumbs! But it is also a good sign that the baby is healthy.
i forgot to add on here that a few days after this post i started feeling them every once in a while... now i feel them ALL THE TIME! its so funny!
My little girl gets them very regular and they seem to be very low down, they usually last for 2 or 3 minutes.
What a coincidence. I was just wondering if it was normal that my son has been hiccuping all the time now. Guess it is. For 3 days straight he's hiccuped at least twice a day. I notice he does that when I drink a little cup of soda...guess I should completely hold off on soda. =D
My little man gets them a few times a day. My husband thinks it is the coolest thing ever.
yep, my little guy gets them about twice a day!! My 4yr old loves to put her head on my belly when he does. She thinks its hilarious that it makes her face bounce!!
well now i just feel left out!!! :) my little man doesn't hiccup at all... at least not that i've ever felt! i wonder if that's b/c of the placenta being in front of the baby or not?!?!
My lil girl gets them about 1-2 times a day (if I notice them). They aren't very strong. The only way I feel them is if I am sitting a certain way, or if I put my hand on my tummy.
Yep my little man gets them about three to four times a day too!
My little guy gets hiccups about 4-5 times a day. Mostly at night and in the morning. I feel so bad for them when they get the hiccups, I try to drink more water thinking that will help them but it only makes me go to the bathroom more often :)
My lil princess is right on schedule with her hiccups......lol Right after lunch EVERYDAY......
I have noticed it a few times, but not nearly as much as you LOL.
