Baby shower for 2nd child?

So, this is my 2nd pregnancy.  My son is 14 months old and my daughter is due in 4 months.  My son was the first grandchild on both sides of the family so we ended up having multiple showers because everyone was super excited of course.  At the time, we also did not live in either city that our families lived in, so each of our families had their own shower for us in their own cities.  Anyways...not that all of that is important..but what I was really wondering is, do people have a shower for Baby #2?  Since we are having a girl, we want girl clothes, and a new set of bedding for the nursery that is more girly, but I don't want to ask people to have me a shower - I mean that is ridiculous.  But, I didn't know what people typically did for multiple children.  No one has said anything to us so far, and we only have 4 months to go.  With my first baby, they practically had the shower planned the minute I told them I was pregnant!  LOL  Anyways, I am sure we'll be perfectly fine without having a shower, we have all the essentials already - just wanted some extra "girl" stuff, like I said, but I was just curious what the tradition was for the 2nd baby.  Please don't take this like I expect people to give me gifts or anything - I was just curious. :-)

Natalie - I think any time after you know the gender is a good time for a shower :-)  I had several showers for my son mostly from 5-7 months pregnant.  You don't want to wait too long - and end up having your baby before the shower - I had a friend like this and my mother in law, too.  LOL

Kirsten - that is so sweet that your sister is so involved, and that you let her be as much of a part of it as she can.  :-)

I have a 5 year gap between my kids and a difference in sex.
i am the only one in our family able to have kids, so my sister uses me as an excuse to go hectic baby shopping, to get her baby fix... she has already picked a date for our shower and theme. She has already started buying decor and gifts... so i think it is totally a personal choice, and if someone offeres, even better !!!!!

I even let her partake in the planning of babys room and decor for the room. I know that she needs to feel like this is also her baby, so i get her involved as much as i  can.

Don't think it is a problem to have another shower. How long before birth are these normally held?

Traditionally if the second baby is a different sex you have a shower to get the stuff that is related to the second birth or if it has been a considerably amount of time between children. I hope this helps

I'm not sure what the tradition is for the 2nd baby but I know my mil is already talking about a baby shower for Micah so I don't think it is a problem to have one.
