Weight Gain

Hi Ladies,

how are you going.  Wondering how you are all going on the weight gain side?

I saw my doctor last week and got a lecture about weight gain - or lack of it.

I am now 23 weeks and have gained a total of about 2 kg (5 lbs) so far.  I am about 15 kg overweight to begin with, and am eating really healthy (and baby's growth is right on track) so I wouldn't have thought it was a problem.

How are you all going?

I started out under weight and very nauseated through out whole pregnancy. I have gained 30 lbs so far and I'm only 28 weeks. But my OB hasn't said anything except that I'm gaining to quickly some times, but I'm always hungry so I eat a lot. So I agree with everyone else your weight gain will vary from everyone's else.

I agree with Super_sally, My doc does not seem to concerned bout weight gain as long as your eating healthy and baby is measuring right on. I had HORRID morning sickness and I think have gained 4lbs the whole pregnancy and I am 28 weeks. Doc said she is not worried as long as baby is measuring on track (which she is). I also started this pregnancy out over weight so I guess it will just be easier for me to get back on track after this pregnancy, I guess all that morning sickness was good for something LOL

Hi,

weight gain is normal during pregnancy.  We all vary in how much we gain.  Hope your appointment goes well.

I had my appointment yesterday and have gained 6 lbs, apparently. But my weight fluctuates like crazy, so it's hard to tell.  1 day it's 4 lbs, then it's 10 then it's 6, so who knows.

The Obe said weight gain is really a good indication.  She had 1 patient who gained only 3 lbs the whole pregnancy and the baby was perfectly normal and another who gained 30 lbs but had to have an emergency CS as her baby was not growing properly.

Just try to eat healthy and don't worry too much about the weight.

I'm 23w 3d and I've gained about 10-11 lbs. At my last apt, I had gained about 7-8 lbs and the nurse didn't say anything. It's all about eating healthy. If you started out overweight, you don't need to gain as much as someone who started out at a lower weight. I think the weight gain target for an average weight woman is 25-35 lbs throughout entire pregnancy, and for someone who is overweight, it's more like 15-25 lbs. I wouldn't worry. See what they say at your next appointment. I've heard the majority of weight gain happens toward the end anyway.
