weight gain

I'm worried about gaining too much weight this pregnancy.  I've already gained about 9 pounds and I'm 12 weeks.  I know how much weight I'm suppose to gain but for some reason I gain in the beginning.  I have to eat every 3-4 hours or I start to get sick.  I 've been drinking a lot of water and eating fruits and veggies.  I know that I've been eating more carbs to help with the nausea but overall I've ate pretty good. I gained 53 pounds with my son and I never did get back to my pre-baby weight.  I weighed 146 this time before getting pregnant and now weigh  155.  So I've actually gained 6 pounds in 5 weeks. Just wandering if anyone else is having this problem.  I also have a thyroid condition, hypothyroidism, and they checked my TSH at my first appointment.  I've got another appointment this Wednesday and I'm just afraid they are going to fuss at me b/c of my weight gain.  Anyone else in my boat?

Thanks for the comments.  I know everyone is different and every pregnancy is different, but it's just aggravating when you try so hard.  I think some of it is fluid retention because yesterday I weighed and had lost 2 pounds.  Maybe the doctor won't fuss too bad.  Thanks again!

I only gained 7 lbs with my son and 15 with my daughter and I've already gained 10 @ 10 weeks this time around.  Trying to watch it more now.

I read that in the first 20 weeks they want wait gain of 2/3lb a week then 1lb there after. Also that gaining weight in the first and second trimester usually accounts for a healthier weight of the baby. Also they said retaining fluids can make your weight go up and down by up to 5lb. I hope the doctors dont give you a hard time. Your priority is nutrients for the baby.
