Drank a Glass of Wine- and now I feel horrible!

tonight with dinner I decided that a glass of wine was in order since we were celebrating. I have never drank my entire pregnancy but I have heard that a glass of wine is considered healthy so I decided "what the heck". Except, now I feel like I shouldn't have!!  Should I be worried?

@ cococolapanda- it never made me sick, except maybe in my first trimester, but I wouldn't have drank any then anyway being that it is such a crucial time for development.

Thanks snewell. I had heard about the stress relief of a glass of wine being good or pregnant women. I did some research and found a study where 400,000 women who drank less than 2 drinks per day throughout their pregnancies who's babies turned out just fine. They even went as far as saying it could help development after birth. I found that interesting, but didn't understand it.

Thanks everyone, I did feel guilty at first but I believe it's because I have been taught about all the dangers and whatnot. I soon realized that everything was probably just fine and one glass couldn't hurt. Even so, I doubt I'll be drinking any more wine till after the baby comes.

Don't feel bad. I have a glass of wine here and there and I don't feel guilty. They don't want you binge drinking or drinking hard alcohol. Just make sure it is red wine. It is the healthiest for you and it is actually good to relieve some stress. But if having a glass stresses you out...then I would recommend not drinking any.

I never drank red wine before my pregnancy. I only drank white. Even in the beginning I hated the taste of red....so I didn't have anything at all. As time has gone by I have actually come to enjoy the red and other foods that I have never liked before too.

Don't worry, they say that further along you are the less it would hurt the baby, and even then genetics plays a big role.  They also say that if you have a lot frequently that's typically when a problem is.  A glass here and there *typically* is just fine, as Tasha said the US is one of the few that say it's bad.  If you read research on it you will find a lot that says a little bit causes no issues, then others that say the opposite.  I think it's a topic that  no one can really completely agree on.

Before I even knew I was pregnant with my son I had a girls night of drinking, I felt horrible afterwards but that one time did not cause any issues, my son is very healthy.

If you got sick from it, then it's just your body's way of saying to wait till later!  With my first pregnancy the smell of wine made me so sick.

I agree....don't worry. It's the way it's been taught to us and the way it's all over the media. That one glass can't hurt anything. I have pregnancy books that say that one glass is fine here and there and even during labour!

I have heard it's fine... so don't worry too much. I know a girl who was taking shots of crown royal at 5 months pregnant (needless to say she obviously knew she was pregnant, and I was appalled that she would do such a thing...) and her babies are just fine, smart and doing great!! Don't beat yourself up about it... but since you realize you don't feel as ok about it as you thought you would... just maybe don't do it again.
Like Alaysha said, some countries say it is fine, but the U.S. has drilled it in our heads that alcohol will cause horrible damage but that's because they are dealing with people who think "oh one drink wont hurt.. lets go take shots of crown royal then!"

Doubtful. It all is really about what you feel comfortable with on the whole wine issue. In other countries is considered completely normal and even healthy to have one 4 oz glass of wine a week. If you look it up online you will see a whole bunch of conflicting info regarding the topic. I know that here in the US they tell us to refrain because there isn't really enough information to determine what is "safe" since every person has a different alcohol tolerance. Don't beat yourself up for having one glass of wine your whole pregnancy since I highly doubt its enough to really do anything.
