Tested Positive for Preterm Labor.

So last week I started loosing my mucus plug and then on Tuesday I was having some bad BH contractions so I decided to go in an see my doctor. Turns out I am 1 cm dilated and that my cervix is low (its supposed to be high). Well they took a swab of my who-ha to see if I was at risk for preterm labor and I guess it has come back today as being positive. Now I am on full bed rest with meds to stop contractions and I have to go to the hospital later and get steroid injections to make sure the babys lungs are developed in case she decides to make a extra early appearance. On a positive not though I got another ultrasound and she is weighing 4 lbs 1 oz and is looking absolutely perfect. She also has a full head of hair!

Pretty much the same thing has happened to me except for my test came back negative, but everything almost the same...I am 31 weeks tomorrow and already dilated 2cm as of Monday! What med did they put you on to stop the contractions? They put me on Pometrium three times a day and its making me so sleepy! I have two girls under the age of 4 with hardly any help as my hubby has to work and so I am struggling!

Oh man... this is when I guess I should be thankful. I keep saying how I feel like I've been pregnant forever and can't wait till it's over, yada yada... but I really should be thanking my lucky stars that my baby boy isn't trying to come out too early like yours and FreshLove's!!! I wish you the best chicka, and hopefully she'll stay in a while longer!! Good luck, and just take it EASY!!! I hope you have the help you need!

I saw on your page your are 32 weeks 6 days? That's when I went into preterm labor and found out I was 3-4cm dilated and 60% effaced. After spending 4 days in the hospital I'm now on bedrest, too. Do they have you taking this stuff called Procardia every 6 hours to stop contractions? That's what I'm on and it makes me all dizzy and have Really bad hot flashes....but as long as it is helping my little one grow a little longer :-)

And don't worry too much. The NICU docs at the hospital told me babies born at this stage do really well and usually just have to stay at the hospital until they get feedings down and make sure no infections; so if you do go into labor within week or so all will be fine.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear this!  I'll be praying for you that you keep that bun in the oven for a few more weeks!! :)  Take care of yourself!!

O my! That has to b scarry, but at least she is a good size! And whole head of hair I didn't know they could see that.  I'm glad they r taking care of everything so fast sounds like u have a good obstetrics team! Good luck !
