Caffiene

Does anyone ever have any caffiene during pregnancy? I completely stopped caffiene and I'm dying! Is it ok to have some?

My doc said cut down, but if cutting out coffee interferes with your digestion or gives you a bad headache, go ahead and have it. I am going to decaf because I want to keep my routines but don't need a lot of coffee.

I found out I was pregnant on the 6th and have not had any caffeine since then. My head has hurt off and on but for me it was a personal choice... Your allowed I THINK about a cup of coffee so like 300 mg? A day.........

But for me, the biggest caffiene drinker ever, I gave it up the day I found out.

i gave it some thought and im going to stop drinking coffee all together. I drink my 1-2 cups but i stopped drinking with my DS and he is the best baby ever, I want another one just like him so i think i should be trying to do the same thing. considering there is no for sure study done on caffeine in pregnancy i am going to be safe then sorry and just stop. I did read that the caffeine can deprive your body of getting the nutrition it need and that they found a link in coffee and miscarriages.

Hi ladies! Here is a pretty good website that lists what is ok to take.  And tylenol is fine!

I drink about 2 cups in the am.  I also have taken Tylenol, Ibuprofen and a 1/2 sleep aid at night. I'm pretty sure you can take Ibuprofen up until your third trimester. I usually get very bad headaches when I'm pregnant and my Dr. allowed me aspirin up until 20 weeks. Everything in moderation.

I have tried to cut out the majority of caffeine.  Chocolate is the only caffeine I have been getting lately.  I switched from coffee to a hot chocolate with milk in the morning and I allow myself one sprite a day since it doesn't have caffeine. Used to be an avid diet coke drinker.  I totally get the tired thing though.  Especially in the afternoon....I keep wanting to have a 5-hour energy drink... it doesn't have much caffeine or sugar.  Mainly vitamins.  But it does say don't drink if pregnant.  I drank a 1/2 of one the other day and felt so guilty that I won't do it again.  I hate feeling tired.

I thought you were supposed to avoid all otc meds in the first eight weeks, and no ibuprofen or aspirin, but Benadryl is OK. I would be so happy to learn you can take Tylenol!  WARNING: Maybe TTI: I get cramps for an hour after the big O (which makes your uterine walls contract) and thought there was no relief for that, so I've been staying physically connected with my husband but trying to avoid satisfaction on my part to avoid the cramping, which can be very frustrating. In the past one Tylenol takes care of cramps for me, so that would be great - also for minor headaches.

I still drink my 1 or 2 cups of coffee in the morning, you can always do half decaf. I drink plenty of water to make sure I don't get dehydrated and it helps flush the coffee out.

I'm working on cutting out caffeine.  Quit smoking cold turkey on Friday when i found out. and to keep sanity in my home I drink 1 cup 20 ounce coffee-  BUT it's not all coffee.  Half water - half coffee.  I hope to be caffeine free by Thursday.  Feathering off on caffeine, I was truly a junkie.

No headaches. Im just so tired. I think that stopping caffiene cold turkey in combonation with the work your body does in early pregnancy is making 2x as bad! I thought that the one pain med ok to take was tylenol? I've been to told no Ibprofun.

I read that you should limit your intake to the equivalent of one 12 oz coffee a day  I don't want to take chances so I am just having decaf - but then I realized chocolate has caffeine and I can't give up chocolate, so that will be my "12 oz." Wine, sushi, brie ok, but chocolate, I can't. I do know that if you feel tired it is better to drink water than coffee. I used to only have a cup a day - but I know going off coffee is much harder for people who are used to more. Do you have headaches? The no tylenol thing is an adjustment too.
