I've had 10 and all have been active and drug free labours and births, with my last being an unassisted water birth, it was an absolutley fantastic experience and would def love to do it again, you need to make sure your hospital has the facilites for a waterbirth and then go for it :)
Congratulations & well done for not wanting to jump straight into the drugs! I've had two completely drug free births and I'm 8 weeks away from my third! The bath is wonderful when you're in labour, it takes a lot of the pressure off your body.
just saying but once you feel the pain i think you are going to want some kind of pain reliever.. but if thats what you want be prepared and good luck (:
Your best bet is to get a midwife that can guide you through the process of natural pregnancy and labor. I had a natural birth and labored in water. I didn't deliver in water because I had to be moved while I was pushing. Be open to the possibility of anything happening in labor. But you are right that you need to be prepared if you are going natural. It is good that you are thinking about that.I also hired a doula who helped my husband and I through the childbirth education and birth. I read the Bradley Method book and hypnobirthing books and our doula gave us private classes. I think they are both good methods and we kind of did a hybrid of those methods. The bradley book was full of good information on the stages of birth. Read everything you can get your hands on.
Best of luck to you! I know you probably are going to hear this a lot...but you are young. Becoming a mother is going to rock your world. In the meantime...have a happy and healthy pregnancy.
