18 And Pregnant

Today I found out if my fiance of 4 years and I are pregnant. I would definitely keep the baby, but I just got laid off from one of my jobs and have started to run out of money recently. What kind of programs are there to help support young mothers? Also, any advice you could give me would be really great because this is a little scary for me. Thank you. God bless.

Yeah theres definitely programs out there that can help. I'm 18 going on 19 too and am also pregnant. I just went to DSHS (Welfare) yesterday and got signed up for their medical program (it will cover your childs birth your prenatal appointments and your childs appointments once they're born). You should see if your state offers that. I also got signed up for WIC which will help you and your baby with food. Congratulations on your pregnancy :) I hope things work out for you :)

Thank you! Hearing someone say congratulations makes me feel a little bit better. My test came back inconclusive, but they're leaning more towards a yes. I find out when I get a blood test later this week. Thank you for the suggestions. I just want to explain my situation and maybe you or someone can offer me some sort of encouragement or advice.

I'm an 18 (almost 19) year old student in my second year of college. I live at home with my family, while my fiance lives 5 hours away due to his job. My mom was a teen mom, and so was her mother.. So I have somewhat of a support system. She has said however that I have to leave home if I'm pregnant, which I planned on doing anyways. However, even though she's supportive in a way she says that this will make it almost impossible to finish my degree. And while I know it would be hard to have children and go to school, I would like to think that I have the determination and the patience to be able to do it. I hope I can prove her wrong.

Thank you so much for listening to what I have to say.

As long as you are not married yet in most states you can get all kids of help. Start with local dept of social services, they can point you in right direction.
