2 vessel cords

Okay, I'm 27 weeks. And my Dr told me at my last appointment that I had two vessel cords instead of three. But she didn't really explain it more. What does that mean?

Also, I've been feeling him move and kick right where my pant line is, is that normal?

And when I walk I have stabbing pains on my right and left side of my stomach. Could this be serious?

Normal cord has 2 arteries and 1 vein. You have 1 artery and 1 vein. It is fairly common.  It should have been diagnosed at your "20 week" anatomy scan. Evaluating the cord vessel number is a requirement at that time. Did you have a 20 week anatomy scan?  The artery has blood going from baby to placenta and the vein has blood going from placenta to baby. Once diagnosed, our protocol includes a recommendation for a fetal echocardiogram and ultrasound for fetal growth evaluation every 4 weeks beginning at 28 weeks. Most babies are fine.

It means at some point,  late in pregnancy,  the placenta may not be sufficient to support a growing baby and they may have to decide to deliver a few weeks early.

It's great that they know that now,  and can keep an eye on it.

I've never heard of that but maybe you can look it up?? And feeling your baby kick so low is very normal!! My baby boy has been kicking me low since he could! And my doctor said it's normal. The pains could just be stretching pains or your baby in weird position. If your ever really concerned and your not sure just call your doctor!!
