Could I be pregnant?

Hi, I am new to this website and I just have a question, if anyone can help me. My period is very normal, I get it the same time every month. I am trying to calculate my ovulation period, and I am having alittle bit of trouble doing so. My husband and I are trying to have a baby.... I got my period April 26th and it left April 30th.... I had unprotected sex May 11, being that I read that most women ovulate 12-16 before there next expected period. Am I right?!? If so, could I be pregnant? I don't want to get my hopes up, because I know this can take some time, but if anyone has input or advice I will highly appericate it.

Thank you
browneyes

You can use BBT (Basal Body Temping). Basically you take your temperature every morning before you get out of bed. I do not like this method and don't use it.

OPKS (Ovulation Predictor Kits). Pee sticks that will show when you have an LH surge (meaning you'll ovulate within 24-48 hours after getting a positive). Also another somewhat unreliable source as sometimes you can miss the LH surge.

EWCM (Egg White Cervical Mucous). When your body prepares for ovulation you'll begin to have a discharge. The mucous (CM) can be sticky, shiny, yellowish, cloudy, white, etc. When the CM becomes EWCM (as in it resembles egg whites: stretchy and clear) it means you're in your fertile time. The last day of EWCM is the actual day of ovulation.

Once you know that day you'll be able to count the days after ovulation up to your period to get a good idea of how long your luteal phase is (time between ovulation and period).

Hi,

I would like to thank you for taking your time to respond to my question. I pray and hope that I am pregnant this time around.... Hypothetically speaking lets say I am not pregnant, how would I be able to calculate my ovulation period? I am having such a hard time doing so?

Again Thank you for you feedback!!!

Welcome!

Sorry I missed this question.

Anyway, you could very well be pregnant if you had sex during your fertile time. The best time to take a pregnancy test would be when your next period is due. I recommend First Response! It can pick up HCG a lot sooner than other tests.

And yes, most women ovulate 12-16 days before their next period, the average being 14 days. Using a 2nd method to pinpoint almost exactly when you ovulate is a good idea if you aren't pregnant this cycle.
