HCG TESTS

Hi,
I am wondering... Is it ok for your HCG levels to drop in very early pregnancy?  I started with 15, it then rised to 20 three days later, and then another two days later it's 16.  Am I on my way to bad news or could this still result with normal pregnancy?

thanks for your support.  You don't know how much it means to me.  I have a feeling that's where it's headed too.  I'm still praying that it's not so, but I'll be strong either way.  Thanks again!  I've had a mc, an ectopic pregnancy, and now this....

It sounds like a start of a miscarriage to me but like njeosys said we're not doctors. I know that when I had my miscarriage I had pregnancy symptoms for a could weeks after because I had to wait for my levels to go back down. Its a horrible situation and I'm sorry that you may have to go through it. Please keep us informed. :(

Yes.  I just saw my doc today and had a pelvic exam as well.  After the Dr's visit I went to take my blood test.  I later found out that the level had infact decreased, but I did not get to talk to the doc...Which leaves me in distress.  I do have nausea, breast tenderness, cravings, thickening of the cervical mucus, and I do feel pregnant.  That's exactly what I discussed with the doc today (before my blood test).  He said that in situations of mc, those symptoms would not be so apparent.  I'm confused.  I really do appreciate your help.

Based on those numbers you should miscarry soon. Sometimes it takes a couple of weeks. When your HCG is below 10, you're considered "not pregnant" by the medical community. So my straight answer is that you are miscarrying. There's no way your numbers can be that low, without rising very significantly.

I'm really sorry! I'm not trying to sound harsh. <<>> You need to get more info from your doctor. But I've had a m/c. It started off as spotting, then cramping. Then heavier bleeding of BRIGHT red blood that had clots and tissue in it. My lower back hurt really bad, like labor pain. My HCG levels were very low (I think they were 17 and should've been in the thousands). By 5-6 weeks your levels should be around 1,900 (and that is early pregnancy).

Do you  have any pregnancy symptoms? Breast tenderness, nausea, for example?

No. That's why I'm here with hopes that this could actually turn out ok.  I'm still praying.  I guess I'm frustrated because no one will give me straight answers.  Does that mean I should start bleeding soon?  I have no signs of bleeding and no pain either.  Not even cramps.  I hope for the best!

HCG levels are supposed to double every 24-48 hours. It sounds like something is wrong and you may miscarry. I say "may" because I am not a doctor and cannot diagnos you. I'm truly sorry for your loss. Hasn't your doc said anything to you about these numbers?
