I also was diagnosed with pcos, but my doctor immediately scheduled me for surgery to correct it since she knew we were TTC. If your doctor hasn't reccommended it, I would switch doctors. Actually, I would switch anyways since your dr said anything over 3 hcg is positive. 5 and under normal for non-pregnant women, and usually a doctor won't consider a positive until at least 25. My first level was 46 and my dr said that was only a day or two pregnant. I got lucky that my regular dr is also a fertility specialist. If you've been TTC for this long, please find a new doctor who is willing to help you.
I agree- most doctors won't say you are pregnant unless HCG is over 25. Under 5-10 MIU is considered not pregnant.
It sounds like you may have had a chemical pregnancy, which is VERY common with PCOS. I also have PCOS and I can sympathize. I am so very, very sorry!
I've never heard of having an hCG at 4 and it being positive. I've been told anything under 5 is negative. I don't think there's even a pregnancy test sensitive enough on the markets that can pick up an hCG that low. Personally it doesn't sound as though you were ever actually pregnant, but it's impossible to say.
