Heartbeat and gender? Your stories please!

So last night I had a scare and rushed to the ER. Long story short, baby is fine and I did get a sneak peek at my baby at 10 weeks so that was a plus. The heartbeat was 178. Everyone keeps telling me fast means a girl! It's just a wives tale, I know, but my boyfriend's mother had 5 kids and her boys were all 140 to 150 while the girls were significantly higher.

So what to you think? Already moms, did the heartbeat theory come true for you?

Glad you and baby are ok!! I had a boy first and his heart rate never made it over 150! Now I'm having a girl in 3-4 weeks and her heart rate has never been under 155! So it was true for me =) also, I carried low and like a basketball with my boy, and very very high with my girl =)
