How soon to have a baby shower??????

Ok ladies...here is my question.My BFF is plannig a baby shower for me and I have so many people telling me that its wrong cause you should only have one for your first. Thats fine but I am having one anyway, lol! I only had one with my first and have since gotten ride of everything besides my crib from my second.
My problem is that my friend thats throwing the shower wants to have it at the end of May!!! Im not due untill August 27th!!! I will only be around 27 weeks!! I told her that I think we should wait untill late June or the end of July would be great too and she said that since I know what im having why not get it over with so I can be prepared:(
Anything can happen that early and then what would I do with all that baby stuff???? I hope it dosent happen but that is one of my big fears.Besides my fears I still think that is way too early to have a baby shower!!
I dont want to sound snotty and childish about this to my friend...Sould I just shut my mouth and be happy that she is throwing me one???
Any advice would be great!!

i am having a baby shower for every baby i have not just one its a celebration and a time for women to get together and chat and just enjoy the day and i was due in feb and i had my baby shower in november

my mother and sil are planning my baby shower. i thought it was going to be in july..which is 2 months before the doctors say i'm due, (i have a feeling they're going to be coming in august) but they're having it in late june.

I think it's perfectly fine to have a baby shower for your 2nd, 3rd, 4th.... baby!  Don't worry about the timing being too early.  Most of my friends have had baby showers 1-2 months before the baby is due, but I don't think 3 months before your due date is too early.  If you really want to wait, just explain your concerns to your friend and let her know why you think it would be best to wait another month or so.  Who knows - she might have a good reason for the timing.  I say just tell her what you want, and if she's your BFF she should do exactly what you want for your shower!  ; )

I don't think that's too early. I'm due Aug 28th and I'm having mine on may 24 (memorial day weekend). I want to have it early cuz I'm pregnant with twins and I'm affraid of premature labor and also this date works with my out of town guests.

Thank you ladies for all your advice:) Im going to ask my friend one more time to reconcider the dates but if she wont than I guess I'll just be happy im getting one:)

everyone in my family ha alwyas had a baby shower 2-3 months before baby arrives, just to get a head start on what is left to buy after the shower. i personally think it's okay even if its your 10th child cause if you had a 9 girls and that 10th one was a boy then you would have to practically buy everything new and that could get very expensive. good luck with your shower and the next 4 months! best wishes!!

I see nothing at all wrong with having another shower (especially if you're friend wants to throw one for you)... you still need stuff even if you've already had a child or two.  As far as the timing goes, I'm sure if you mention it to her again, she might consider doing a later date (make sure you let her the know the reason you'd like it later... if something happens, etc).  Now me personally, my baby shower is being thrown for me on Memorial Day weekend which will put me right around 27 weeks.  The only reason I want one that early is b/c my aunt is throwing the shower and she lives in upstate NY (6 hours from where I live here in CT)... I have a bad back to begin with so I figure the later I get in the pregnancy, the more my back is going to hurt (and a 6 hour drive can be a pain even w/o being pregnant!).  Anyway... I'd say it won't hurt her feelings to "re-mention" it to her once more.

I think that is a bit early but if that is the only date she has then, I guess that is OK...I had mine in Feb 17th, and my baby is due anyday now.....There is nothing wrong with you having another shower, especially if y ou got rid of things...I am helping throw a shower for friend who having her second but she did not expect to have another and threw everything out....so I think it is fine.....  Have fun at your shower!!!
