Go to the hospital. Risk of infection isn't worth it.
When my waters broke i ohoned the hospital to let them know and they told me to wait until i had contractions (because of my sons position we knew my waters would break early) this was at 6:15pm and my contractions didnt start til an hour later... Even then i laboured all night at home until 7:15 the next morning when i made my way to the hospital, i had made it to 7cm. I think it depends one what situation it is, mine literally flooded constantly, no trickle, a real big gush. I did get told that of i hadnt had any contractions within 24 hrs of it breaking to go straight to hospital. but im from the UK and everything is alot more relaxed over here, the drs like you to labour as much as possible at home so you dont get stressed or uncomfortable in the hospital.
They really shouldn't release you after water has broken because it can cause an infection the longer you take to give birth. I waited over 24 hrs before I went in (was trinkling never gushed thought it was discharge) they ended up giving me 2 bags of antibiotics threw IV.
With that said take your time dont drive 100 miles an hr but dont take forever either.
when My water broke with My first baby, it was just leaking out little tinkles. So i took a shower, put some makeup on, blowed dried My hair, got My stuff ready. Lol while all My family were in panic mode. I had no pain and i was so calm. But the whole time i was doing all that the water was still tinkling down. Lol i thought just like in movies you didnt have to go to the hospital until you start to hurt.
If your water breaks you immediately go to the hospital =)
