Too EXHAUSTED to work today

Just wondering if sleepless night are typical? I am only 9 weeks and for the past 3, I sleep MAYBE 2 hours at at a time. I had to call in sick to work today b/c I am just EXHAUSTED!! I am tired ALL time. I called the doc yesterday and he said ALL my blood work and testing came back fine and everything seems in alignment with a healthy pregnancy.. Good news, but I feel awful... Like I could just lay around all day.. I am hoping this passes soon..

Also,  An update on the smkoing cigarettes.. I haven't had one since Sunday (3 days..) I am having a hard time with that as well.. OK.. Sorry to be a complainer, I guess I just want someone to tell me it will go away soon and I might see some sleep in my future.. I need it desperately.

XO
Laura

Yes, it's normal to have sleepless nights when you are pregger.  My doc told me I could take Tylenol pm or Sominex.  I did a few times and it helped me sleep through the night and it relly helped.  It should pass after your 1st trimester is over.  Hang in there, your body is doing a lot of work to make a life in your body.

I had trouble sleeping during my first trimester sometimes.  I think it was due to my frequent trips to the bathroom.  I am now 18 weeks and feel much better.  Less tired.  Good luck!

I am hoping I am a freak of nature and I am to be exhausted and sleepless now and sleep more later in the pregnancy?! =)   I know, not likely..

I have had m/s for 3 weeks.. It's highly unpleasant..In the evening though, I am not nausious. I just cannot get comfortable, I am either too hot, too cold, feeling bloated, or have to pee every 5 seconds.I dunno, I am hoping it passes! Also, my bb's hurt ALL the time. I know this is normal, but UGGH!..  This is my first pregnancy and I feel like a jerk for saying this, especially when so many fabulous women are ttc, but I am finding the first trimester HIGHLY unpleasant and uncomfortable. I can't sleep, I can't concentrate, I am feeling bloated and gassy 24-7. Just not fun thus far.. I am hoping it gets better soon! Although from the posts it is looking like it will just get MORE uncomfortable! =)  I will have to deal, and suck it up.. Maybe I am just a huge baby!?

Thanks for the advice ladies, and thanks for the encouragement for quitting smoking.. It is so hard.. But so far, I am pretty proud of myself.. =)

Have you had morning sickness?? Maybe that is what is keeping you up?  I can't relate to early pregnancy insomnia cause for me, all I could do is sleep....I was so tired all the time.  I am now 35 weeks and am having a hard time sleeping.

On the smoking, congrats!! I was a full time smoker too.  It's not easy to quit, but try to keep in mind that you are 3 days into it so that means the nicotine is out of your system and its all mind games.  You have to really want to quit to be successful.
For me, cold turkey didn't work.  I weened myself over a period of time and I was smoke free my the time I was 4 months pregnant.  Everyone is different.
Good luck!!

I didnt get tired until later on in the pregnancy. Im now 30 week 2 days and am sooooooooo tired i can barely move at times. Still working full time and making time to get things ready and see my friends. Its normal to be tired in pregnancy but make the most of it at this stage as (sorry to say it) its only gonna get worse as you get further along

Thank you and I hope you get rest soon too!

I am usually in bed by like 9:30, then up like every hour or so, and then I have to get up around 6:30 to get ready for work. I just feel like it caught up with me today, I have had terrible m/s (well morning, noon, and night sickness, I should say.. uggh) for weeks now.. I think my body is just calling a "time out." I need a day to recharge. I just wish it had been a Saturday or Sunday so I didn't have to miss work. I hate missing work...

Thanks for your input, it is a bit of a relief to hear that I am not the only one struggling to get enough sleep. I wish us sleep"ful" nights ahead!!

**Until baby arrives, at least!**

I am having the same problems!! I can fall asleep by like 10pm, but I am up every 2 hours or so to pee, or I need a drink, or just can't stay asleep. I work nights so this does not work well for my schedule. Also I am usually not a morning person at all, I usually don't get up till 9 or 10am. I am up at 7:30-8am every morning. I am crazy tired and sick most of the day and in bed but not sleeping... It seems weird to me too... Maybe it is anxiety from being pregnant and really wanting it to all be okay this time... I am 7 weeks and last year m/c at 14 weeks. I am with you though I can't wait for this sick feeling to go and the awesome fun 2nd and 3rd trimester to get here...
Hope you feel better and get some good sleep soon....

Hmmm...that is funny that you mention that because when I was preggo, around week 6 for me, I was having a hard time sleeping at night and I mentioned it to the nursemidwife and she said that, that early in pregnancy insomnia was not a symptom and that it was probably due to anxiety/excitement/thinking related to the pregnancy.  Good luck!  Congrats on the quitting smoking...I've never smoked but I'm sure the hardest part is over!
