Colds and pregnancy, How many of you?

I stayed home from work sick today.... it SUCKS. I'm all stuffed up and coughing. Since Wednesday and had a temp yesterday and this morning. (99.1 or so) my normal preggo temp has been about 98.4... so it's low grade for me. Obviously I'm contagious.. yet my little bro and friend insist on staying the night over here.. So I've basically gotta cook them dinner... and clean my home... and be sick.

This is the 2nd time I've gotten majorly sick since being pregnant, and the last time I needed antibiotics to get over it.. That doesn't include the 5-6 mini colds I've had.

How many of you have delt with this?

LosingMyMindinGA~ I found something that dries up the congestion some... (and helps you sleep) Unisom or benadryl.. I take 50-100mg a night! it works wonders.. I still cough, and still have amostly stuffy nose, but it takes it away about %50... thankfully today I'm feeling about 1/3 better, and I'm gonna go to work tomorrow and scare everyone with this nasty cough.

I no longer have a fever so I doubt I'm contagious anymore.

I know exactly how you feel. I've been dealing with what started as a sinus infection but becuase my doc was out from surgery and I was seeing the OTHER doc who doesn' t listen, it wasn't treated properly and has become a full blown upper respiratory infection.  THANK GOD my doc is back and got me on antibiotics. I'm feeling a little better..but the lack of sleep from not being able to breath and coughing constantly hasn't helped me any.  I just hope I don't feel this miserable when it comes time to deliver!!!!

Yea, I know... it just sucks. I've also delt with the morning sickness since week 6! I've still got it. I only picked up a little, and I wound up cooking an easy dinner, baked(well... steamed in the oven) chicken, rice, and corn... I made me a bowl of brussel sprouts for the vitamins... let THEM deal with the aftermath.. bwahaha.

But I'm still up at almost midnight because I'm gonna stay home from work tomorrow to give this 1 more day to get over it some.. because A) I don't want to get everyone at work sick, and B)... I'm EXHAUSTED and have a migraine from the coughing.

I'm just gonna tell them it's pregnancy related because I don't have enough normal sick leave.

I too have been sick with colds during my pregnancy and i am only 14 weeks. I have also had the cildhood illness 'hand, foot and mouth, as well as a lot of moring (all day) sickness. It is really horrible to have to be dealing with these things as well as the general day to day pregnancy stuff (really tired, moody etc).  It has to do with the fact that while pregnancy your immune system is lower as all your bodies energy is going into making and growing your baby.  Pretty much sucks especially when there is not much you can take for it that is good for you while pregnant.  I suggest getting take away for your brothers friends and let then see a messy house, they are only  going to mess it up again nanyway and you will wantt to tidy it when they go.
