Head down??

How can you tell if the baby is head down for sure without an ultra sound? How do doctors figure that out. I know I feel hard kicks up top and softer down low from time to time.. but how can you be sure he's head down? Im 36 wks and I know that they can switch at any time before delivery anyways but im curious...

He was head down at my 20 week scan. In my third trimester my dr was able to feel his head from the outside. If you ask your dr will show you how to feel the babys head yourself.

I felt like I had a head in my crotch. LoL. I swear it was so uncomfy at times.

I'm 39 weeks and my baby keeps moving from head down to transverse (lying sideways) his head won't engage and stay down, my Dr isn't worried cos they can turn him when I start labor and all being well he should find his way out, this is my 3rd and its not uncommon for a baby to still be moving freely (so I'm told). If you have been told that your babys head down and is engaged then that's good, your little one is getting ready. Nothing to worry about, good luck

My doctor just used her hands and felt my stomach and then confirmed by listening to the heartbeat (because when she found the heartbeat it was higher up on my stomach) that she was head up. My baby apparently hasn't gotten the memo that she's supposed to turn around. I'm 34 weeks 2 days.

The dr can push on your belly down low and tell if it feels like a head or not.
