The only reason you shouldnt immediately stop taking it is bc of the risk of withdrawel depending upon how long your on it but ive had a seizure before from stopping medication w/o weaning and besides that there are other risks to just stopping a narcotic.

I guess my information I gave was wrong. All I know is if I was for some ungodly reason taking any pill and found out i was pregnant I would immediately stop taking it.

Sorry for the wrong advise :(

I agree with sunworshiper. Most importantly i recommend you speak w your doc regarding this. More info is needed to give you the best advice. If you are just taking it to take it your doctor will probably set up a safe way to wean you off. If its something you need to take more than likely your doctor will just keep a closer eye on the pregnancy. But either way id definately make your doctor aware of any medications you are taking. I was on a narcotic for anxiety in the begining of this pg and my doc weaned me off. Now due to complications ive been put on percocet and probably will have to continue to take it until my son is born so possibily five more weeks but my doc is aware and monitoring my pregnancy a little closer.

NEVER EVER EVER EVER stop taking ANY medication without first consulting your OB!  Usually if you are on pain management like vicodein they say DO NOT STOP YOUR MEDICATION it can lead to stillbirth or miscarriage. If you withdrawal from a medication your baby will too and while it may just be uncomfortable for you it can kill your baby.

Vicodein is NOT very harmful in pregnancy. I take vicodein twice daily for two spinal fractured and a pelvic fracture. I am 26 weeks pregnant and both my OB and pain management specialist who specializes in treating pregnant women for pain are in agreement that I need to and should take this medication throughout my entire pregnancy. At the dose I am on it is unlikely my baby will be born addicted.

However if you are using it for recreational purposes that's a different issue entirely. Either way you need to speak to your OB and find out what is best for you and your baby but please DO NOT STOP ANY MEDICATION without first speaking to your OB.

Why are you taking it? Do u need it?

Yes it could be very harmful..... I would advise to stop taking it.. if you take it for so long your baby could be born addicted to it and have withdrawls from it, being out of the womb..

How far along are u?
