Diagnosed with Pre-Eclampsia... Has anyone ever had this?

I was just diagnosed with Pre-Eclampsia last week. My doctor has me on bed rest and is monitoring my BP and weight weekly. I am scared and I don't know a lot about this condition. I don't have protein in my urine, but my BP has been a bit high and I have extreme pitting edema in my feet, ankles, and legs.  My hands, face, thighs, and knees are also really swollen. I am 33 weeks 4 days. My doctor said something about bed rest until the baby can be taken in 4 weeks. Does that mean she plans on inducing labor at about 37-38 weeks? Has anyone else had this and can give me their stories? Thanks.

My mom had pre-eclampsia when she was pregnant with me.  However, she was overweight before she got pregnant, so that was a factor in her getting it.  She delivered me via C-section and I was 9 lbs 9.5 oz and perfectly healthy.  =D

I had pre-eclampsia with both my previous pregnancies and they think i will have it with this one as well.  With my son (first) i just had very high blood pressure - blurred and spotty vision - no protein in the urine and was put on bed rest.  He was delivered by C-section at 37 weeks - i had other problems as well, I was born with a dislocated hip and my pelvic area was to small for normal delivery.

With my daughter i had high blood pressure and protein in my urine but i think because i was not working full time i had more rest with her.  Did not have the blurred vision ext.  She was born via C-section at 39 weeks.  With both all went well - my son was in a incubator for a day due to fluid on his lungs but fine after that.

Take care and take the rest you need

I was severe pre eclamptic at 32 weeks and there is a 95% chance of having a perfectly healthy baby at 32 weeks. And he was just fine but died due to a catheter piercing his heart. I would make sure you are seeing someone who is experienced with high risk pregnancies but even if you delivered tomorrow you would have an excellent chance of having a perfectly healthy baby

Geez well I hope it stays under control....do you have to be on a special diet now? like low salt or anything?  I was talking to my husband yesterday about having the diabetes and I told him I wasnt sure which I would rather have..this or the pre eclampsia.....I hate the poking myself 4 times a day and being worried when I eat things. Plus there is always the chance that the diabetes wont go away...which really *****.  but i'm sure we will both get through just fine and in 4- 5 weeks we will be holding our little girls in our arms...I got my c-section date its Sept 10, so 5 weeks away! I cant wait!

My SIL gets this with all her babies.  It can be very dangerous if not caught or monitored but it sounds like your doc is doing that so try not to worry.  Just let your doc know if anything out of the ordinary happens or if you feel different in a bad way.  Does that make sense?  LOL

Like ziggy said, once you have the baby, this will go away.

I know what you mean. How is that diabetes going for ya? Ya, my doctor has already been talking about putting me in the hospital if I gain more water weight or my BP goes up more. YIKES!

geez girliee..you and I arent having it easyare we? you with pre eclampsia and me with gestational diabetes....well, my friend had the pre eclampsia and she was fine....I have seen a lot of birth shows with it, basically it should be ok but if it gets too high or out of hand people can sometime be put on bed rest in the hospital till the baby can be delivered......but it doesnt sound like yours is that bad. They prob will be inducing you earlier(37-38 weeks) because delivering the baby cures you, so when shes ready im sure they will take her out, lol....
