I'll tell you right now if you're not working or going to school they won't give you one. Boob size is not a reason. I have big boobs and feed in public. Invest in a cover if you're uncomfortable.

wic gives you a brand new electric one if you work or go to school part time and plan to breastfeed for a year a month after baby is born. if you have baby early and is in nicu, they will let you borrow one till baby comes home. they will automatically give you a manual pump if you ask.

Is your doctor not willing to write a note for you to get one? I know for my daughter I rented one at a place called milkworks and they needed a prescription type note in order for me to rent and medicaid covered it for the 1st 2 months and if I would have needed it longer I just needed to call to extend the lease and Medicaid would have covered it again.

Insurance is definitely supposed to cover it in the US, ask a lactation consultant around you, or you doctor may know, but WIC does, just ask them about it!

I've never heard of insurance covering them but I do know you can claim them on your taxes.
