Does any one know how to get housing help in louisiana?

I'm thinking about leaving my husband.  And I'm looking for ways to do it.  I'm so stressed out.  I live close to Baton Rouge.  I'm out of work and my car is junk.  My husband keeps making me feel like **** because I'm not working.  He keeps telling me about what he pays an what I don't.  I tried talking to him and told him he hurt my feelings by saying that and he said i was B-I-T-C-H-I-N-G at him.  And all I was doing was trying to talk it out.  I'm just SO over it.  MEN ARE STUPID!  When God took the rib from Adam to creat Eve... that must had been where men kept common sense.  i worked my butt off for YEARS to pay our bills and he didn't work at all.  Hes disabled and gets SSI an works 2 days a week with his uncle.  I love him but I'm starting to hate him.  He is only nice to me when he wants some thing.  I talk and he just stairs at the tv or computer an never says 1 word back.  I cry and he never flinches... he rolls his eyes and says "WHAT EVER".   I'm married and lonely.  I know this is not Pregnancy related but i needed to vent.  And if any one on here knows of ways i could leave please let me know.  Anita

I dont have any advice for you hun but I just wanted to tell I'm praying for you. I'm sorry you're having to go through this.

Wait? Is the section 8 housing the same thing as low income housing? Here we have certain apartments that base your rent off of what you make.

I dont know about Section 8 housing but is there apts that just provide govt assistance? like they allow you to pay so much based on your income? I would try to find one of these complexes! I know they have them everywhere i just dont know if its the same as section 8!  im not sure what its called there  but i know its called LI-heap they help pay for your electric and can help you get in contact to get other bills paid! And as some1 said churches will help you no doubt! You have a child they will almost always put you first priority with food bills etc..!!

I was wondering how that would work out. I think even where I live, where we haven't had a natural disaster and people losing homes, there are waiting lists.

I checked on section 8 housing an there has been a 2 year waiting list ever since hurricane Katrina.  sigh... thanks ladies

Well, I can't tell you what to do and what not to do. So I'll just answer your question. You can apply for public housing assistance. I believe you can do that at the same place you'd apply for food stamps and Medicaid, if you're familiar with where to do that in your area.

well sorry to hear ur story..all i can tell u is try to get some goverment assistance.then find a lil efficiency to get u started try craigslist for jobs and housing..keep praying and just hold ur tongue every time u fell discourage grab a bible and read pslams 23.repeat it till ur tired..also some churches will help u....also things maybe hard on ur hubby too..but i know how u feel

I am so sorry that you are going through this. It is so aweful to feel alone. I don't know anything about how to get help where you live, but I would suggest contacting a local womens shelter they will be able to give you all kinds of information about what programs would be available to you.
