Breast feeding is different for every baby and every mother. It is suggested like formula to breast fees for the first year however some mom's espiaclly ones who are working find it more difficult to continue once the baby has been introduced to solids as the need for breastilk drops just like with formula. I breast feed my son for 7 months and he was then giving breast milk in a bottle until one year but do what is best for u and baby
Pull on the side of her mouth to unlatch her or hold her head closer to your boobs and hold her head there. My baby is only 2 weeks an she does that.
@geekmom how did you teach your baby not to bite? My baby is only 10 weeks and she clamps down on my nipple sometimes and pulls her head back and won't let go so im scared to death of her doing that once she starts getting teeth
I am stopping at 1. I formula fed my son till he was 1 and switched to milk and I will do the same with my daughter
The World Health Organization strongly suggests nursing for AT LEAST two years (not two years maximum) and continuing afterwards for as long as is "mutually beneficial" to both mother and child. There is no point at which breastmilk is no longer nutritious and wonderfully beneficial for young children. It is the best food for babies and still an incredibly nutritious food for toddlers and even preschool aged children.
My son nursed until just after his second birthday when he decided to self wean. He bit me maybe twice, long before he got any teeth, and I quickly and easily taught him not to do it and he never did it again. He would sometimes climb up in my lap and tug at my shirt when he wanted to nurse, but never did he "pop out my titty" (nor did we ever use that kind of distasteful phrasing for the act).
Nursing your child saves thousands of dollars on expensive and unnatural formula products. Twelve months is the absolute youngest age that cow's milk can start to be added to the diet, so stopping before then will add a huge formula cost to a household budget. It also creates an excellent bonding opportunity and the ultimate way to soothe a child who is sad, sick, hurt, tired, lonely, or cranky. I can't imagine giving up on my ability to wield that magical power when my baby was still so tiny. Four or six months? Not nearly enough time!
I stopped at 6 months. I felt like that was a perfect time because my boobs weren't making enough Milk for my daughter and she would rather have a bottle anyway. She would just chew on my nips like a pacifier. Still hurt even with no teeth lol.
My Dr said to stop at 1 year
Its up to you when my baby gets her teeth no more titty lol I will probably still pump but im not sure one I see my baby is a good weight maybe about 4 5 months I'm stopping don't want baby to want the boob all the time just for at night
I think 5 years old is weird
