Breastfeeding

Okay so this is a kind of silly but does breastfeeding hurt? I've been having weird dreams lately and the one last night was that I was breastfeeding but it hurt. I know that's super random but it freaked me out haha

It is painful at first because your nipples need to get used to it. It usually takes a week. And vreast engorgment is uncomfortable but you'd get it rather you decide to breast fees or formula feed

Even though its painful in the beginning it pays to stick through it. Because that bonding feeling tht u fell afterwards. ...OMG! !! I MISS IT! !!!! my baby dropped me by 6 months cuz i was working and i didnt build up my milk. ... But this time around i shall do a little more effort to keep her/him breastfeeding. ... Its the BEST feeling in the world watching that tiny angel sucking with a rythm! !!!!

It takes some getting used to. Your nipples aren't used to that sort of treatment and for most women there will be a period of pretty serious soreness tenderness and yes some pain until the body adjusts and the nipples get toughened up a bit. For me it lasted about a month or so. After that, though - smooth sailing. It gets way easier, you just have to stick it out through the hard part and it's totally worth it.
Screaming searing pain along with blisters or blood definitely require attention and help from an LC (and IMO everyone should spend time with an LC over the first few.months just to make sure everything is going well) but I think it's detrimental to say that if there's any pain you're doing it wrong... it's not the easiest task in the world and it takes a while for your body to adjust but that's totally normal.

Its uncomfortable until you get uses to the sensation. If it is painful then baby may not have a proper latch and you should seek guidance from a lactation consultant.
