8 days late but negative test

Hi all I am new to this site but hoping some of you may be able to help.  I came off the pill last June after 11 years and have been ttc since then.  I have had about 5 25 day cycles and 2 35 day cycles (last month being one of them) but this month I am on day 45 and still no sign.  About a week and a half ago I was feeling very tired and crabby so thought I might be coming on but nothing.  Since then I have had white or clear discharge  - about 5 days ago it was quite stretchy but now just quite a lot of white.  5 days ago I started having sore nipples (now v sore and boobs feeling quite heavy) and some cramping on my left side which lasted a couple of days.  I was expecting period to come but nothing and although cramping stopped nipples still very sore and boobs feel quite heavy - also I have got like a stretching pain in my front pelvic bone.  Am feeling bit tired and hungry but not majorly.  I thought I was pregnant but did early preg test this morning and negative - at first thought v faint line but think I may have imagined it.  Ive read that woman can be a couple of weeks late before the hormone will register but wondered how common this actually is - am really hoping I am but am thinking maybe not now!

Oh thanks Aimee its really frustrating all of this isnt it! I was thinking the same the it may be ovulation symptoms - the only thing that made me think otherwise is that my boobs are still so sore and usually between ovulation and period being due they go back to normal - who can tell!  I can certainly see why people who have been on the pill dont go back on it in between having their first and second seems to be taking forever to get back to normal!

hi there what you described sounds like ovulation symtoms also. somtimes we ovulate alot later that other months and thats why your period would be late. try hang in there it can take most healthy couples a year to conceive . also being on birth control for so long wouldnt help with matters as some people can take awhile for you body to return to normal. i would also advise a trip to your doctor soon if periods dont show up . as for the test not picking up hcg its not that common but still can happen.. maybe try again in  a week if periods are still a no show . you really never know.
hope that helps a little
