CVS hurt like hell

Has anyone else had a CVS screen done.  I just received the bad news from my doctor that I was high risk for trisomy 18 after my first trimester screening. So I chose to have the CVS test done to confirm if the trait was present.  There a 98% that everythings fine but I didn't want to  leave it to chance because if the trait ifs present the baby won't live to see 1 years old or I won't carry to full term. So I found all of this out and had the CVS done in 24 hrs. I was told there would be slight discomfort but that was false. I almost jumped off the table in pain. I don't wanna scare anyone but I have Yo be honest together was one of the.worst feelings I have ever felt and I have one child. The position of my placenta meant they had to go through my stomach to get the sample so they dug this 6 inch needle into my uterus to get a sample of the placenta.  I began to cramp immediately and cry.  Then the Cather that was entered had to be moved up and down through the muscle to get enough sample. The entire time I'm squeezing my fiancé s hand crying and begging then to stop. Then to make matters worst the sample wasn't enough because it spilled as it was coming out so they had to go back in for another sample.  I told them no at first but I told myself that it is for ths baby not me. so I let them back in too do another one. I  couldn't get off the table for about 20 30 minutes. I was cramping really bad. I felt like the needle was still there after they took it out and I was told that was normal. I feel traumatized I wasn't given any medicine for relief I happen to have Tylenol in my purse that I took to help me. I'm glad I did it for my baby but would never do it again..I'm still in pain and I had done almost 12hrs ago.

That's a horrible feeling. I had a similar experience with the interthecal. It's like an epidural, but they just shoot the medicine in the epidural space instead if insert a catheder. She took it out and pushed it in to fund the spot for 30 minutes, hitting nerves and shooting pain down my legs, not to mention the lidocaine they numed my back with wore off. It was more painful then my labor, and didn't work. I'm terrified now, and I'm 20 wks and with this one, I'm not getting anything. I still have nightmares, and I'm scarred for sure. Sorry you had to do that, but to do it for your baby shows that your a good mamma. I ended up getting a spinal migraine bc it didn't heal, and they had to go back in to do a blood patch I did it for my baby so I could take care of her, and that didn't even work. I ended up on strong pain meds the entire first week of my daughters life.
