Kinda late for a first check-up in pregnancy??

So I finally called another midwife and I will now be a patient there. I also told them about the spotting I had yesterday and the midwife is going to try to call me today after hours and see if I can come in maybe tomorrow for a blood test. I still have to tell my midwife now, that I am switching...I am dreading it, but it needs to be done.
Anyway, this place can't see me until Jan. 25!! I will be almost 19 weeks preggo by then. Isn't that kinda late for a first visit/check-up/listen to the heartbeat in pregnancy???  They did say they are very busy all of a sudden, and there are lots of preggo women now. This office has 3 midwives, so I'm kinda surprised that it's THAT far backed up. I guess I just need to learn to be content and stop worrying so much.
Should I just stick with my midwife now until halfway through my pregnancy and then officially switch over in Jan? Never been in a situation like this before. I need some advice!! I'm just frustrated and hoping I am making the right decisions. But this new place has better technology and could better monitor me if need be.

Thanks ladies!! My appt. in Jan. is confirmed. So I will just stick with my midwife now and then tell her in a month or so what my plans are. Also, this new place will see me tomorrow to draw blood for pre-natal screening and HCG levels. Also they are trying to squeeze me in for another U/S in the next week or two to see how the growth is growing. Hoping they can! Things seem to be going well for now. No more spotting, which is good. I'm still worried of course, but my morning sickness is still here, which is a good sign.

Honestly, if you can I'd stay with your midwife and switch over in January...you can always go to the hospital or try to squeeze in with the other midwives if there's an emergency or something comes up. I wasn't seen with this pregnancy until 15 weeks, but with your history I'm sure you'd feel better getting checked out before 19 weeks.

I too have never been in this situation...But, personally, I would stick with your midwife now, just in case you need her, and the make the "official" switch in January...Basically, if they can go ahead and make that appt for Jan. take it and then come Jan. 20th or so I would call your current midwife and tell them you are not longer accepting their services, if that makes sense???

It is better to be safe than sorry, and if that means double covered then so be it...

You go girl, checking on seeing someone new, who will take you more serious and see you quicker

I'm 15 weeks and I havent been in to see a Doc yet. I havent even made an appointment for first prenatal check up....my first pregnancy i satyed with my communitys health clinic, until it was time for the once a week check up then they switched me to a different place because I didnt want to deliver in a Community Hospital, I wanted to diliver in the Big City hospital, because they could deal with any complication that could/did happen during delivery, the community hospital would have had to air lift me to the city hospital.

What I'm saying is its better to be in a place that WILL be able to take BETTER care of you and has ALL the technology needed.
