Hi Al,
so, I had the appointment with the Gyn today and.... they did an in office urine pregnancy test. Then the doctor talked with me and ultimately prescribed 'medroxyproges'-- progestrone, basically, for 10 days -- with the idea that when i stop it, my period should start and i'd 'get back to regular cycles'--- I asked if we should test my current hormone levels first and she said no. I asked if we could do a blood test for pregnancy, even to alleviate my concern, and she said no. I told her i do not like to ever take anything, especially if i do not know what is causing the problem, but she said this will eliminate a few of the possibilities. I asked, what if i was pregnant and i took the med, could that be a problem, and she said no. I asked about side effects and she said just bloating. She said that in her entire career she has never seen any one whos cervix or endometrium became blocked after a biopsy...etc.. well, the visit sort of went as i expected- no testing, no exam, just a prescription. I picked it up and at this point do not plan to take it. -- I have deteriorating disks (basically every disk) and my sister had breast cancer-- etc. I am very sensitive to chemicals. I do not think it best to take this hormone drug without some blood work first... I will learn what i can and consider a second opinion. I may call my sister's natural-pathic doctor to see if he can order some blood work for me. BUT!!! all this is much easier for me to think about tonight as I have started to bleed a bit more-- more then i have in the past 2 months. !! maybe this will continue and be like a normal period? we shall see! I suspect (this even the doctor agreed with) that I have a lot of blood up there (she said she looked on my MRI and saw that I do have a lining...those were her words, meaning that i had a buildup as from a cycle in my uterus) --- She said that another thing that can cause missed mense is a pituitary brain tumor, but i would have headaches and discharge from my nipples. WHy would she even say that??! DOn't you think if i had either of those symptoms I would have said so. She did not like me being an informed person, possibly. I thanked her etc., and she seems intelligent etc... but i'm gonna wait before I do the hormone idea. holy moly. The other great news is that my feet are much better so I can wear shoes and this means WALK and exercise more! this has been true for 2 days, so, maybe this is contributing to the flowwwwwwwwwww. Happy day to all. Let's keep thinking and getting better. exercise every day !
Hi,
So, I went and bought a HPT today and did it twice ! So, MOST LIKELY not pregnant !
There were good reasons to suspect the previous tests flawed. I don't have menopause symptoms. This mense stopping was sudden-- and came right after I had the interuterine biopsy -- thus, I really suspect IUA (here is an informative site about it if anyone is interested: Ashermans.org ) When they did the biop, they actually did 3 and it was VERY painful!! (lower back area) Then, no period and A LOT of discharge (rather watery, no odor) I had them check to see if I had an infection when I had that discharge (it felt like a period but was not blood). they did an in office slide to see for infection and said no. Tomorrow I plan to ask for an actual culture and well as blood pregnancy test and (especially if the gyn considers stress or menopause, ) then also hormone testing (it would be a hormone inbalance caused by these two things that would cause the menses stop, if that was the case...so, all that should rule out a lot ! don't-cha think? Then, I believe she should consider the possibility of IUA (what I think might be the case). And hey, Megabrooke, I have been reading a lot about pregnancy testing (as you can imagine, besides the fact that I am Doula and have had 3 kids and been to nursing school)... And as I understand it, you can be pregnant and have repetitive negative results on pregnancy tests, home or in office, for many reasons. There are many reasons for one to miss a period or two etc.. but I would consider each and everyone and rule them out one by one. YOU KNOW YOUR BODY best. If you have health insurance (as I do right now) you are very lucky and can bring up each concerning possibility with your provider. The 'severe cramps' is not normal. Keep asking until you get answers! In the meantime : do things that can not hurt you, like drink a lot of water, exercise, eat well, sleep sleep sleep and SMILE :-)
Thank You All for the replies. I'll keep you posted........
I have a similar problem except ive never been pregnant im 28 n i went to the md after being late 3 weeks n it was negative i dont think its possible for me to be pregnant but its been almost 3 months. I get my period regularly I have severe cramps for 2 days now no blood im extremely worried got another appt on thursday to get to the bottom of this!! Do you think I was too early? Should i test again?
If you were pregnant it would show up on a pregnancy test by now no matter what time of day you took it. I would say stress could be one cause but maybe it has to do with something else. It could also be menopause. I would say go back and see your dr or get a second opinion but pregnancy can be ruled out at this point
If you go into your profile under the posts tab it will have a record of all your previous posts! Could it be menopause at all? Hopefully the doctor today will order you a blood test and ultrasound to confirm whether or not your pregnant.
62 days late and you HPT is negative??????. if u r pregnant it should come positive. no matter when u test. its like ur 8 weeks pregnant. do u have renancy symptoms like gassy, nausea, vomiting n all?
