I Had my exam today and we where talkin about the triple screen test for Down Syndrome. She told me that 65% of the time the 1st test arent even correct, every test they do needs to be done at the correct time and age and the U/S has to be the exact dates as well. So I wouldnt worry just yet! I hope I helped a lil....

Down Syndrome is detected through amniocentosis (sp?) and depending on your age and history, your chances of the baby having it are slim. Ectopic pregnancies are just pregnancies that implant outside of the uterus (it could be in the tubes, in the cervix, etc.) so it would not affect any birth defects in the current pregnancy you have.

Down Syndrome is a genetic abnormality. And depending on whether you would care to abort a baby if it had Down Syndrome, the tests used to find out aren't always worth it. Amnios are performed by sticking a large needle into your abdomen and into the amniotic sac (bag of waters) and they will use an ultrasound to make sure they don't hit the baby. There is a risk of miscarriage with this. It is painful and will cause you to cramp, maybe bleed.

So if it doesn't matter to you if your child has Down, don't bother spending the time, money, and heartache with genetic testing. I personally LOVE LOVE LOVE Down kids. They are the most pure, sweet souls on this earth.

An ectopic pregnancy did not cause this to happen. Every time an egg is fertilized, it creates its own umbilical cord and placenta. And as the previous poster said, her baby was fine!

this should not be a problem. my son had this too. i was very scared . they said it made the baby smaller than usual. but my son was 8 lbs 2 . i do think it has something to due with constipation though after they are born. my son had it a lot and so did my cousins baby who had the same thing. they say what it is , is there should be one cord bringing in nutrients and two taking waste out but with this only one takes the nutrients and one taking waste out. so if you think about it , it has to have something with the bowels but  the dr never said that this was true. good luck and try to not worry.
