Ultrasound and no baby...?

Lafies,
I had My first appointment today. I'm just confused and anxious..so the doctor took a urine sample and it came positive. She did a pap smear and went over some general family history. Then, I explained I got my last period July 20th. She said I'm 5 weeks but technically I'm 3 weeks. She wanted me to get an ultrasound because I had an  irregular period and also some abdomimal pain. I also got some blood work. The radiologist said I'm way too early to tell. They didn't see the baby and that i must wait a little longer. So they couldnt even tell of I was pregnant. Im just not sure why she ordered an ultrasound in the first place. I'm getting the blood results tomorrow. I'm just scared I'll miss carry again...any thoughts?

Was the ultrasound a vaginal one? If she did it straight on top of your belly there's no way they would've seen anything. I had a vaginal ultrasound at 5w 3d and we saw a sac only, no heartbeat. So don't be too worried, checking your blood hcg results and making sure they rise is the best way to know what's going on when it's this early.

This is going to sound bad the way I put it sorry in advance. At 3 weeks baby isn't even the size of a blood clot. Most ultrasounds can't see the baby till 6 or 7 weeks. If the test came back positive then your pregnant just not far enough to detect with an ultrasound
