Thanks!I have not been preventing pregnancy for exactly a year this month, I guess you can't really say that I was trying the whole time, but now I want to start to really TTC. I am often tested for TSH as I have a lot of symptoms that lead to thyroid problems but it all comes out negative,so I don't think I have thyroid problems. You're right OPK can't tell ovulation because last month my positive OPK lasted for un-believable 6 days! so I had no idea when I exactly ovulated. And when I noted it on my tracker my result was that I have 10 days Luteal phase, I know that's not long enough to sustain pregnancy so I may have a problem. That's why I decided to start doing BBT so hopefully I can for sure tell when I ovulated and figure out my cycle better.
It sounds like you are getting ready to ovulate. It's basically useless to test with FMU because you will almost never get an accurate result. It's better to test in the afternoon afround dinner time. I only used opk's for a few months before I went strictly over to charting my bbt and cm. The opk's were giving me positives and I wasn't ovulating at all at the time. All they really detect is an LH surge, they don't actually detect if you are actually ovulating or not. And to be positive the test line must be as dark or darker than the control line...which at first, I found confusing. Usually preovulatory bbt's will run around 97, and post ovulatory temps will run a degree or so higher than your normal temps. I also read in Taking Charge of Your Fertility that if you have temps in the 95-96 range that it can be indicative of having a hypothyroid, which can impact fertility. I'm not exactly sure on this, but if you've been ttc for a while, you might address it with your OB/GYN. Good Luck!
