You can lose your mucus plug without dialating. But with a first pregnancy it's more likely that your cervix is making changes if you are startign to lose the plug.
i've only lost my mucus plug (or part of it) with ONE pregnancy but have dialated atleast a cm or two before labor with all the rest of them (with exception of the c-section) and didn't lose my plug til I was in labor.
Don't know if it'll help you out much, but I was 1cm at 33 weeks with Elijah, I had a c/s because he was breech, and I never lost any of my mucous plug. SO I was 1cm without losing anything, I don't know if you can dilate more without losing it or not, but I'm proof you can be 1cm.
I hope it does mean your body is dilating and getting ready for the baby to come, I know you're ready, and it's so close!!! *HUGS* You're almost there girly! I'm getting excited for you, I keep checking to see if you're posting and wondering if you're in labor!
I know you can loose it weeks in advance and also regenerate it.
I'm due next Thursday. But I'm being induced on Sunday. I just would like to have my body do a little of the work before so the induction goes easier.
you can lose your mucus plug and go weeks without giving birth!when you have your bloody show like it sounds like you might have had then it is usually a sign labours not far off!usually a couple of days max they say!good luck and keep us posted :)
Well not every women knows they have lost their mucus plug, i would say if your contractions get closer together go to the hospital. i can tell you that my sister lost hers and went 2 more weeks without having my nephew. so i would assume you can lose it before you dialate. hope this helped.
With my son I lost my mucous plug and same evening my water broke. When I got to the hospital few hours later, I was only at 1cm.
Good luck
