Why do you need to take shots of all things? just sip some girlie drink like, I dunno, kahlua and milk! a girlie shot might be better too, but if you're planning to do tequila shots then you'll have to pump and dump a couple of times
Have you tried him on the bottle before? Make sure you do before you go out without a back up plan. Niether of my first two would take a bottle..
Yea so I can just store a couple bottle full (before I go drink) & bottle feed him for the rest of the night?
No problem :)
I was soo happy when I found them it makes things easier on me lol
Frozen BM in a deep freezer can last 6 months or so, regular freezer around 3 months (maybe shorter) in a fridge around 7 days or so.
Pump and dump isn't to draw it out, it gets the excess gone and either way you'll have to do it. Engorgement is extremely painful and happens when you go extended times without pumping or feeding. If you make lots of milk you might have to do it sooner than others.
It depends on what you drink and how much to deem it 'harmful' and how long before you can feed again. Any LC or the LLL can give you accurate and more detailed information as well.
Just freeze it is what I've always heard! (:
Yea I hears that too.. but I don't see how a little alcolhol can hurt. So I can store a few bottles full & let my mom watch him for the night while I go drink? Would that be ok? How long does breast milk stay good in bottles?
From what I've heard pump and dump does not work. Alcohol in your milk is the same as in your blood, you have to wait for it to wear off. Pump a few bottles before you drink and use the test strips after, but don't rely on pump and dump.
Yeah get some strips and pump and dump... Also u could use milk u have stored to feed the baby for the rest of the day/night
Capricious. I'm glad you mentioned those test strips! I have been thinking about wanting to drink on new years and I will be breastfeeding! (: thanks for posting this! Lol
From what my mom has said and she is still breastfeeding my little brother, if you have one glass ( like 8oz ) you are supposed to wait 2 1//2-3 hours before you can nurse. but you can always pump and have some set aside and then pump after drinking and just toss that milk to be safe. I did find at Babies R US they have test strips that you can test your breast milk to see if the alcohol levels are low and safe for you to feed that milk to your baby. It's what I plan on doing, I got pregnant 2 months after I turned 21 and my hubby turns 21 next year and I wanna be able to drink with him but I will be breastfeeding.
If you're BFing you have to pump and dump, and will also need to pump ahead of time to have milk stored for when you're not able to feed him. Alcohol goes into the milk and doesn't disperse like it does it our body, so just waiting a few hours won't get rid of it. It's best if your BFing to just not have alcohol at all. Your baby gets the same thing you drink, and I doubt I need to tell you how dangerous that is.
You more or less follow the same guidelines as you were when you were pregnant, because much of everything you eat, drink and ingest is passed to the baby.
