Okay well my doc. office called and had my appt. changed for tomorrow at 3pm instead of tuesday (u/s tech has to have surgery tuesday??) but i was wondering if anyone has experienced this so i will know whether to just right it off or explain it to my doc. (WARNING: TMI) i have been constipated for about 3 weeks now, probably had a bm maybe 4-5 times in that time period. well, i haven't had a bm for 4 days now, but when i went to the bathroom this morning i had really bad gas but it was sort of wet so i wiped.........all that was there was mucous looking stuff and without even trying i could smell it and it smells like infection! is this normal with constipation or should i ask my doc. about this????? please help!

i've had this with previous pregnancies. to be honest, i didn't check it out with my dr., but i should have done!!! if nothing else, dr. will be able to give you something to help you go more easily.

I have been constipated with this pregnancy and talked to my dr about it bc I was experiencing alot of what you are talking about.  What they told me is to keep drinking alot of fluid and I can try a stool softener...they recommened Colace.  The mucous like stuff is what your body is producing to try to help you with your BMs....and the smell is more than likely just because what little is coming out has been inside for longer than normal.  But if you are really concerned than of course talk to your dr!!!  Hope I helped!!  You are not alone!!!

Fruits and vegetables and whole grains will help you go and move things.  Also Yoghurt is awesome for constipation...
I know right now it may seem pretty chronic but a liiitle change in diet will help tremendously.
I am also taking prenatals that have a different iron compound that keeps you from getting constipated, they are more expensive but very worth it.  The ones I use are called "NOW Prenatal vitamins" and I "go" almost every day since day one.

My dr. said that a stool softener is fine throughout pregnancy because it is really absorbed through your system, it just helps with the process.  Your baby won't absorb the stool softener.
I would definitely talk to your dr though - just because they will be able to give you the most direct fix...

well, no more constipation!!!!!! i am so relieved literally..lol! i usually drink lots of water/juice but i have 1 cup (about 5-6 oz.) of coffee every other morning since i crave it! it's actually about 2 oz. coffee after i add my milk and a bit of french vanilla creamer so not really that much caffeine. any ways i had a really big craving for broccoli and cauliflower with my moms homemade ranch dip so i had her help me make some and bought me some broc./cauli. not sure which done the trick the veggies or the dip but luckily i have had 5 bm's since the 15th and i feel 100% better aside from my other pg symptoms!
