Dark red blood?? Help!!!

I'm 38 weeks pregnant and I just had some dark red blood. It was enough to leek through my painties and shorts... Is this normal at the end or should I be concerned? Has anyone else experienced this if so what does it mean.

I would call l&d and see what they say. When I was exactly 39wks I started bleeding like I was having a period, l&d told me it was normal and it was a early sign of labor and 4 days later I had my son. But bleeding can be alot of things.

Definitely get checked then, that doesn't sound like bloody show to me, and it can be many harmless things, but better safe than sorry!

Bloody show usually comes after a mucus plug has come out, if you have no other signs of labor I wouldn't assume it's bloody show. I would see l&d, definitely It can be many things, but dark red blood in the last trimester isn't normal, and definitely needs to be seen, My bloody show was just a pinkish. Good luck!
