Depression meds.

So I have taken the same depression medicine since I was a little kid.  The medicine is completely not safe while pregnant, as it is linked to some major birth defects so as soon as I found out I was pregnant I called the doctor to ask what to do.  They started winging me off of it by cutting my dose in half  for 5 days then into 1/4 for 5 days, then to every other day for 5 days and then off of it.  Today I am on the 1/4 a pill dose, and I already can feel the affects.  I am getting agitated much easier and I am starting to get my anxiety back and feeling lonely.  Anyone else go through this?  Did anything help?

Im taking Wellbutrin XL because of my depression and Im shocked they took you off yours because my Dr said it would be worse if I stopped taking mine than if I kept going. I now am not so reliant as I used to be and only take it as needed for a week or two. My current Dr - who isnt the same as my last one - was a little sketchy but I told her I cant have my mood swings intensified by my hormones. Its a lot easier on me and my family that I just take the antidepressant versus if I dont. Im aware of what conscisequnces may come of it, but, again, its less stress on me thus less on my baby and everyone else I work or live with.

I was on antideppresants. When I found out I was pregnant, I was completely off it. Pregnancy is hard while being depressed, especially when you're not on any medication to help control it. What I do is make sure I go to therapy and not miss an appointment. It helps me be able to control my feelings. It's not healthy for the baby nor myself being depressed, so I do whatever I can to make sure this pregnancy runs smoothly.  And also it was my choice to not be on medications because of all the birth defects it may cause.

Lol. You'll do just fine. This is my fourth. I have 3 boys and now will finally have my girl. I found out at 5 weeks along and stopped the zoloft then and so far she's perfectly fine. You've been through it before so you're a strong person. I'll admit i do have my "crazy" days where Im such a ***** and i know it but i can't help it. Lol

My dr actually put me on zoloft while pregnant. They told me because I was in my second trimester the birth defects were very minimal to almost none because all the major organs were formed. It's only 50mg a day but I was to the point where I wasn't taking care of my toddler. I also have never needed meds before for depression and they wanted to ward off PPD because if you have prenatal depression then more than likely PPD follows.

Just a little over 5 weeks lol, so not very far at all but I wanted to get off of Zoloft ASAP and I didnt realize how much my emotions would change over night but I guess its that and hormones. This is my second child, my first is almost 6 year old (a boy) so I really want a girl, I went through this with him too but its been so long I cant remember the really bad parts lol.

Thanks hun you too. How far along are you? It's amazing what we as women do when we have to. When are kids are involved. You will have your good days and your bad days but you'll get thru it. Just make sure you have a good support system in place and someone to talk to. You'll get thru it.

Thats also what I take is Zoloft, 100 mg/day.  I have always had anxiety and they started me on it when my parents got divorced (age 5 but of course a smaller dosage then lol) Thats why they were scared for me to just stop.  I know its best for the baby I just have started feeling so trapped for some reason.  Thank you for the support, I really appreciate it, and you taking Zolofrt totally understand where I am coming from.  Congrats on your new baby coming soon :)

Hi there. I completely understand. I was on zoloft for bad anxiety before i got pregnant. It wasn't planned but we were happy. This our 4th and last. I was on 100 mg/day so when i found out i stopped taking it and called my doc. They didn't even wheen me because the effects to baby could happen immediately. They just said to stop all together and i did. Im now 39+2 with a healthy baby girl. Im not gonna lie it's been really hard to keep myself in check and i have had a few panic attacks but i just kept telling myself it was the right thing for my baby. I had to for other things like deep breathing and relaxation exercises which do help a bit. I also made sure i had time to myself every day even if it was just to relax and take a long bubble bath. You just need to find what works for you and remember its what's best for your baby. You can do it mama. Good luck.
