Chemical Pregnancy without bleeding?

There's a chance my pregnancy is "chemical" as per my doctor visit today. I had several positive tests before making my appt, but when I finally made it to the doctor today (about 5 weeks) the urine test was negative and they could not find the sac, HOWEVER he said he could tell the uterus has "thickened", so he thinks i'm either too early to tell, OR it was a chemical pregnancy. My AF hasn't shown up, I have mild nausea, and have had a few of those familiar "menst cramps" that I got with both of my other children in the early stages of preg. What are my chances the blood test will show I'm still preg.??? Any ideas are appreciated. I'm really nervousl. Thanks in advance..

Hi. It's not a dumb question AT ALL. I had no idea what in the world it was either, until a short time ago. Basically, it's when an egg was fertilized but failed to properly attach. These kind of pregnancies normally go completely undetected, without the woman ever even knowing she was "pregnant" at all, but since the Hpt's they have avail now can detect HcG so early, you get the + result but end up "passing" it before anything ever really happens. It just sort of goes right on through... I'm not sure if I'm explaining this 100% correctly, but it's along these lines. Not an actual m/c, but rather a mis hap(mis happen).... Anyhow, I think what I had last night was basically a normal m/c anyway because I had a couple actual "clots", so I'm waiting to hear from the doc now. Thanks for all your replies everyone. =)

this may be a dumb question, but what is a chemical pregnancy exactly?

If your blood test was positive then I suggest you go for a follow up to see if your levels are rising.

Thanks you guys. I wish I could say that things have gotten better but I've since had some cramping and spotting, and I'm really hoping it's not because I'm about to miscarry??? This is nerve-wracking! I'm still hoping for the best though. I should hear what my blood test has to reveal by tomorrow, and I will sure keep you posted. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I hope you are all doing good as well...  =)

As luv2bmommy said, some of the dr office test are not as sensitive as some hpts.  I would try another hpt just to see what comes up on that until you get the results back from your dr.  Best of luck and hope you get good news.

Hi. Thank You for your response. I'm really hoping you are right. I would think that if it had been a "chemical preg", I would have started bleeding or atleast spotting by now, right? I don't know much about it, but it sure is nervewracking... Thanks Again for your thoughts, and I hope you're right. =)

probably just too early, the blood test should be able to detect it, those urine tests they use at most doctors offices ive heard are not as sensitive as hpts.

Welcome to the forum! I'm Joy and I don't really have an answer to your question. I just wanted to say good luck and I hope the results say you're still pregnant! It is possible that the urine test was a fluke because honestly they just don't always work. A serum test is the best bet in knowing if you're pregnant or not.
