Epidural option

i decided im getting the epidural shot. i rather be level headed i am already scared so i do not want to experience too much pain for the first time. i want experience this first and hopefully enjoy it last. then maybe w. the next one go all natural. plus its seems good to have the epidural just in case an emergency happens. i am doing vaginal but if something happens and i need an emergency csection at least i will already be medicated instead of having to keep my baby in potential distress... how about you? what are your birthing plans? c.sec epidural, vbac, vaginal?

I believe that some weman can handle pain better than others, but we've also got to think about our babies. Not everyone is the same, so I feel that if you choose to do all natural then decide half way you can't do natural because of the pain then by all means get the medication to make it easier for you and your baby. I'm going to try all natural but I've also told my doctor to have that needle ready if I can't take the pain anymore. It's all about how you feel and making this a special moment.

Most women that have an epidural for their first time will have an epidural for their next baby because they don't know what to expect and they "can't" handle the pain. But I hope your that 10% that truly goes for a natural birth.

I had my baby boy all natural vaginal and med free almost four weeks ago. It really wasn't a bad labor.. just remember to breathe and relax during the contractions and you'll be fine.

Oh yeah, you'll still feel the birth. Just not the pain. At least that's how it went for me.

For me, I had the epidural and loved it because I was in so much pain, but I still did feel all the pressure of my contractions and my son moving down. And once I started pushing, I couldn't feel it until he crowned (which he crowned for close to an hour) and when that was happening it burnt like heck and was very painful. I'm not sure if everyone has that with the epidural but just know it won't take everything away 100%. Good luck!

i thought about that also the feeling of pushing. i heard the sensation is gone once taking an epidural. i do want to feel the natural feeling of childbirth idk... i guess i will find out what my final option will be when he comes..

With my 1st, I had epidural and loved the experience. With my 2nd, I was induced and got an epidural, but it caused me to get a fever during labor and I had to stay at hospital an extra 2 days. This time, im going to TRY natural birth no meds but am open to epidural if I cant handle the pain. Good luck!

All all the way!! First I had the epidural second baby I went natural and it wasn't as bad as everyone said it was,, I labored mostly at home, and when I went to the hospital 2hrs later I was pushing.. When I got the epi it was drawn out and exhausting .. So I'm opting to go all natural this third time around,, good luck with your delivery,, the epi does feel wonderful.. But I rather have the feeling of being able to push on my own,, and recovery is way better without the epi

I had my first baby girl vaginally. I got the epidural, and it worked out perfectly! No complications, and I enjoyed the labor process. No tearing, either. With this baby, I plan to do the same. Epidural and everything.
