What do I tell my daughter?

We had our ultrasound today. We found out we are having a GIRL. :)

When my 6 yr odl daughter heard this..she began to cry. She was heartbroken. For those that dont know we lost our son, her little brother and best friend, in March of 2008, the day after he turned 2.

Every night she had been praying to God and asking for Him to please give her another little brother. Which this afternoon she reminded us of through tears. It was heartbreaking. We tried smoothing things over with her. I just dont really know what to say to her ..im at a loss for words. Part of me was sad today too, but then I realized this is God's way of healing us. He knew that another baby boy would be way to hard on us right now.

I would tell her that Nate picked out this very special little sister for her!!!!! You guys are an amazing family and I know she will love that little girl with all her heart!!!!

Maybe just remind her that God already blessed her with a wonderful brother and that he's one of a kind. Congrats on your girl!

Oh how sad that she is unhappy...  Just remind her that this little sister is a blessing sent directly from her brother to keep her company and to be her best friend,  Not sure of your situation but if you plan on any others after the birth of your new little girl you can tell the oldest that maybe down the road you and your DH will try for a baby boy.

Hey sweetie! I am doing really good. I seem to be getting over whatever virus I had for awhile. And Im happy its a girl. I just feel bad for my 6 yr old. How are you and ur little ones?

Oh hun! I am so sorry. Maybe your daughter just needs some time?? I bet you would get some good advice at the baby angel forum. IDK. Congrats on your little girl. Did you get pictures?? BTW- you are talking about your daughters reaction, but how are you doing???
