Cyst outside ovary

Hi, I am 33 yrs old. I had miscarriage on July'07 and when I had ultrasound on October'07 (for check up), they found a cyst outside my right ovary about 5,5 inch. My Ob said that I have to go for surgery (LAPAROSCOPIC). So we had it scheduled for the following month. And 1 week before the surgery I came to see my Ob, for the procedure and suprise...he told me that I do not need to go for surgery. He said that I can try to use birth control pils for 3 months and if no result, they we do the surgery. My question is, why didn't he ask me to do so on the first place? Could that be my Ob gave wrong diagnosis? Does birth control pils really work even if the cyst outside ovary? Since I still want to have another kids, I am worry about the risk if I have to go for surgery because he said there is a chance that he may have to remove my right ovary as well, is this true? Please give me some options what could I do in my condition. Thank you

Hi I have a 2 inch cyst they just found from heavy blood flow and put  me on birth control is this a good idea.?  I never. Took p control in my life  I usually a all around healthy person.ty

I hope so I just bought a fetal doppler so I can hear him/her all the time and so my daughter can hear it too.....not that she'll really understand yet but ya never know she is very smart.

General pain in the ovary area,when not at your ov time,but there not generally noticed unless you are having fertility issues,they would then do a scan,lap,etc.as previous lady said they dont nessasary pose any problems.some women can have irregular periods,general period pains are just form of nature,not nessary of meaning cycsts,

what is your symptoms from having that cyst? how the doctor diagnosed you? do you guys have irregular period? period pains that doesnt go away, or what? just curious...

I actually have a cyst on my left ovary now and I am 11w prego today, so i think that you should be fine to have kids in the future.  When i was younger i had multiple cysts on my ovaries and fallopean tubes and to be honest i havent had a problem getting prego....knock on wood.  With this pregnancy I got pregnant within 2 weeks of having my IUD removed(form of birth control) I was shocked at how quickly it happened, I figured it would take a few months at least but I couldn;t be happier and hope everything is going well in there for my little one.

I also had cycst when i was younger i had ovarian drilling to remove the cycsts,and all was fine,i had multible cycsts,i think with one it wont hender your chances of not concieveing.some times they go away by themselfs,when i mc in sep,they told me i had a cycst,but been back since and it has gone.i would ask for another scan before decided surgery,good luck.

I had cysts simlar to that when i was younger, we tried the birthcontrol thing and it didn't work for me at all, personally i think it made it worse.  I had to have the laparoscopic surgery and I have had a daughter since and I am now carrying my second child.  I don't think that it will affect you having children in the future, at least it didn't for me.  Good luck. I know how painful this can be.
