the procedure was pretty simple, really. They did a spinal deal, like an epidural, and it didn't hurt at all. Just felt like a bee sting for a few seconds when they injected the novicaine so I wouldn't feel the spinal. They used a really thin needle for that, and it was just like your legs get warm and tingly, and eventually you can't feel them anymore! That was weird, but slowly feeling came back after a couple of hours I could walk again. So, you are awake during it, mine only took 20 minutes, and I just hung out and listened as the doc explained to the resident what he was doing.
it is a surgical procedure...I received and epiduaral on a high dosage so that I was very numb even hours after the procudure...you are awake when it takes place but you just cant feel anything.
I never had a stitch but was diagnosed at 26 weeks with a short cervix. I spent 5 weeks in the hospital on strict bedrest and have been home for 4 weeks on bedrest and can't wait to be getting up a bit over the next few days.....i'm offically allowed up at 36 weeks and think i will have the baby within a week (just my guess)
Bedrest really does help but if it is strict bedrest it is really hard on your head...the isolation and helplessness, so don't be afaid to ask for help if you find yourself getting down, a low dose of antidepressent has really helped me. They say it is common when on bedrest to get depressed (i started having panic attacks) and you can be at higher risk for post partum as well
Hi i have never had one but due to have one at 12 weeks( im 8 weeks 4 days) how do they do the stitch? are you asleep?
I have a stictch and I am actually getting mine taken out next week....I got mine when I was 13 weeks pregnancy due to my past. I was doing good until I turned five months (exactly 21 weeks) and ended up the hospital with contractions so now I had to be on bedrest for the remainder of my pregnancy...everything is going well..and it does work...Good luck
