Hyperemesis Gravidarum

I am 21 years of age and my two previous pregnancies went by with minor to no morning sickness, but I am now pregnant and am facing this monster calle "Hyperemesis Gravidarum" I once took phenegran because I lost 17 pounds within a months time. Then I had to stop because my body created a super bug that would cause me to vomit and get severe headaches any time I took phenegran. My doc appt is not until the 11th and I still vomit at least three times a day. I get a few just nauseated days, but ha that hurts just the same. I am also lactose intolerant, which makes life even harder. I had a previous abortion due to this monster which caused me not to even be able to get ot of bed or be a mother or fiance to my family! I do not know what to do this time around! PLEASE HELP ME COPE!!

I am not either, but some people you just have to let them know in order to keep their rude comments to themselves.

I didn't, just because I'm not usually like that. To family I just told them to not talk about or assume things they don't know anything about.

Some people can be so harsh and rude, but I refuse this time around to be treate unfairly just because they think it is okay for them to speak that way. I feel the need to lash back to a doctor or nurse or famiy who figures it is okay to be rude to me. They do not understand how it feels and they never will!

I was the first in my family too. I got SO sick of everyone telling me all the time that I just needed to eat and I would be fine. One of the midwives I saw would always complain when she saw me. Said I was being selfish, and complained about my weight loss. It was awful. My husband was amazing, but 9 months of me being sick so much does take it's toll.

Thank you for your words of encouragement. I eed them more than ever. I am so glad I can speak with someone who understands and have felt my pain. I amte first in my family to have this condition and they look at me like something is wrong with m baby, but I know that has nothing to do with it. I know my baby is perfectly fine as long as I keep eatng and giving nutrients to the baby. My fiane tries, but it is still hard for him to be supportive. I will message you like crazy, because this is such a difficult matter for me.

I'm so sorry. HG is the worst thing to get while pregnant. I had it with my first daughter. I had lost 25 pounds with her, but managed to gain a decent amount back by the time I gave birth. I too am lactose intolerant, but that never bothered me too much while pregnant. I just take calcium supplements.

How far along are you? I started to get sick around 5 weeks, and wasn't diagnosed until 13 weeks. At that point I was severely dehydrated and was started on Phenergan and Zofran. You might want to speak to your doctor about getting a prescription for Zofran if you haven't yet. It works much better though doesn't really knock out the nausea as well, but it's better than vomiting non-stop. (While pregnant it didn't work for me, though for many it does) It is expensive though, and many insurance companies don't cover it. You may have to pay out of pocket.

Are there any foods you can handle at all? When I talked to my dietary consultant, she said whatever stays down to eat it. For me, I ate breadsticks and macaroni and tomatoes almost all day, everyday. Sometimes I was able to eat chicken, but it wasn't often. Mashed potatoes also work well. Try to avoid any and all fat, fried or greasy foods. Eat very small meals at a time, and snack often if possible. Try to make sure you get enough rest as well. Lack of sleep can make nausea 10x worse. It seems impossible (trust me, I've been there) but you CAN do it. If you ever need to talk, vent or just need support, never hesitate to message me.
