o/t-but is anyone else getting annoyed w/car seat shopping?
so online, i keep seeing the carseats i want(i've narrowed it down to 3 lol, same company different colors!)...but when it says locate a store to buy this item, it says it's not in my area....i've found it on walmart, target, and babies r us sites, and sure enough, when i call, they are items sold exclusively online, not in the store! i'm just getting so danged p!ssed off, because, shipping isn't always what they say, and apparently the item is ineligible for site to store with ALL 3 stores! :-(
idk what to do, b/c i'm on a budget, and i notice stores carry only 2 "types" of items, either their CHEAPEST or most EXPENSIVE.....i was going to wait till i see if i get 1 at my shower, since i did register for one that walmart had in store, but i really don't like it, and thought maybe if i get it, i can return it, and then pay the difference between that and the 1 i want....or buy the 1 i want now, and if i get the other one also, return it.....

I got a really nice carseat for DS and after 3 months he hated it. We ended up going to the evenflo triump advanced ($130) that goes from 5lbs to 20lbs backwards and then you switch it to face front and it goes from 20lbs to 50lbs. he loves it...I mean absolutely loves it. We opened it on christmas eve, he was almost 4 months and we put him in to try it out and he fell right to sleep (on the living room floor) and slept there all night long...first time really sleeping through the night. You could just see the pride in his eyes getting in the car with it on christmas day. It is just huge and comfy and for once, not ugly! The only reason I liked the baby carseat is because you could hook it onto the grocery store cart. If that isnt something you plan to do, I would definately suggest looking at a convertable. If you do plan to get a baby one, I wouldnt buy the most expensive because it probably wont be used for too long.
One last thing... not so much about carseats. i wouldnt buy too too much because right after baby is born you will a) want to shop for him now that you truely know who you are shopping for b) you will have a good idea of the things you will actually use... we didnt end up using half of the gadgets we bought and found we could really use others and ended up spending the same amount of money over again buying the right things. c) you will find that you like some things more than other and want to get more of them. We found that clothes with zippers we loved. It was quicker, easier for the DH and DS got scared when we unsnapped the snaps. If we did it slow, he did little jumps with each snap and if we did them all at onces he did a huge jump. Funny at first, but then you feel bad when it happens four time an hour! We realized we only had two outfits with zippers and fifty with snaps. We really wished we had money and room in his drawers for more items with zippers. The point, save some money for things to buy in the first month or so. Good Luck in your searches.

It wasnt to difficult for me, i dont think. I have a Burlington Baby Depot up here and thats where i got mine. I got the matching stroller and car seat. Well Baby Depot is the only place i found a good price, and we dont have Babies R us or Target (well target is opening up in October sometime). I got Graco since i got that swing that MJ was mentioning, were you can place the car seat in there and just remove the swing seat. Its pretty cool. Im having a boy, i didnt go with the normal blue. I think the stoller and car seat are called "Samuel". Good Luck. Oh yeah my car seat was $89. Its a snugride.

yea, i just called a target in the next "area" and they actually have one that was shipped and the buy never picked it up, but never opened.....allegedly it was a site to store ship, and the buyer cancelled the transaction.....idk that's what the woman said....when i asked about the site to store, she said sometimes the system will ship to the largest store, if there's several in the area, rather than ship to every single store in a large area.....wtfe lol.....
you should deff look online at target they usuall have alot of baby sales...or you should go in to the store and check the sales out. im not to sure if it was just in my city but i just bought a graco travel system really nice one itsa blueish grey color plaid and i got it on sale for 95$ when origanally it was 195$ so i saved about 105$ on it....and i got it at target
They have a really cute graco carseat on target for like 80.00 for a boy. I found it today and I was pumped.. its the first infant seat I actually liked that was affordable! its like green and blue plaid.. I really like it.

the issue with site to store, is that if the wrong thing comes in, or if it's damaged, i have to do all the returning, exchanging, and such and wait MORE time....
laurab-i'm thinking of doing the 1 size car seat, b/c it makes so much more sense, but when time comes for chris to not be here, i'm going to need a carseat i can carry.....i think what i'm going to do, is use the "ugly" one on my registry(not really ugly, diff shades of blue with hippos on it), as an infant carrier, and chris said something about buying a "stationary" car seat(like a large one) for his car, and an infant carrier for me.....to me, that makes sense, rather than switching everything around....i am wanting the *tango in tongo* carrier or travel set, by graco snugride i believe.....but i've also found the 'flex' ones, that adjust by the end of the carseat, versus taking **** apart and doing it like that....so i'm torn ;)

I am going for a graco snugseat knowing that I will probably be buying a britax in 6 months. I am small(4ft 10) so for me to carry a big carseat is too difficult. I get babiesrus coupons and saved the 20% off ones to buy my stroller and carseat. When buying aoline do a google search for discounts for the site.
Im also getting a Britax carseat. i think its so silly to get a newborn car seat then get a bigger car seat. My baby is already measuring big so i know that hes gonna be a big baby (i figured seeing that i was 9 lbs 14 oz. when born and my sister just had a 10 lbs 5 oz. baby) So im forking up the 230 dollars on a convertible one that way this will last me a lot longer than buying two!
The carseat I like is a convertible carseat by Britaxx. It is suitable newborn up to 60 pounds.. That is why I like it.. It seems insane to me to buy 2 or 3 different car seats when they are between $115 - $215 per pop!
I also really like the chicco travel systems and the Peg Perigo's, but they are pricey as well!

I think the baby gear buying degree would be nice.. lol I think what is wrong with me is that Im afraid Ill pick something and then find something i like better and then be stuck with what I picked first.. cuz i look online all the time and theres SO MUCH and im like oooohh I like that.. oh wait.. maybe I like this one better.. Its what my days consist of.. and then in the end im mad cuz I can't decide.. lol
my dh think i mad when it comes to car seats i spend a fortune on them i got a new one for this baby that was over £200 i dont know what that is in $ even though i had a lovely graco one but graco dont do ISOFIX and i love ISOFIX all my seat now have it my baby one my 2 toddler ones and the next stage one for when my daughter turns 4 i just got also has it so in all we now have nearly £1000 of baby seat in our car dh is cracking up but ISOFIX is ment to be safer

Im dealing with the same thing!! And know what makes me even more mad?? Okay so I already have a really nice stroller.. My babys dad's mom bought it for me last time I was pregnant.. So obviously I dont need the travel system which is nice cuz they are expensive.. So Im looking for carseats and they are all ugly!! and the cute ones are like 120 dollars.. umm my baby is gonna outgrow the seat in like 6 months and to me that is not worth spending 120 dollars on.. Plus my mom is buying me a graco swing that you can take the actual swing seat off and set a carseat on instead.. well the carseat obviously has to be graco or it wont fit.. so i have to get a graco seat regardless.. anyways.. So after i get mad because all the cost efficient graco carseats are ugly i go look at travel systems and they are WAY cuter! Im so pissed because I dont NEED a travel system! I just need a fricken cute inexpensive newborn carseat!! UGGHHH
