not gaining weight at 16 weeks

BBQ
I am at the end of 16 weeks and almost into 17th week. what worries me is that I am not gaining much weight in the past 2 weeks or so. I am 5'5 and around 115 lbs before pregnancy. Now I am only around 128lbs. I asked my doc why I am not picking up more weight although I try to keep a good and healthy diet. but it doesn't seem to bother the doc much. also i have leg cramps almost every other night since the 14th week. Is this normal? Any of you experienced similar situations too?

thanks,

Definitely dont worry about your wait gain it varies a lot between different people. I lost about 5 kg  (roughly 10 lbs) in my first trimester because of m/s and i a have now well and trully put it back on (33w6d) and now my weight gain is normal.

As for the leg cramps UGGGGGGGGHHHHH arent they terrible? I have been getting what i assume must be restless leg syndrome at the moment and it is infirriating. As if sleep isnt difficult enough. I began really craving bananas of late and i have read that leg cramps can be a result of low potassium (there is potassium in bananas). I know eat a banana just before bed or with yogurt each morning and the difference is definite. If you dont like bananas im sure there are other things you could eat to boost your potassium intake.

Goodluck!

You know what, I'm at 32w and have only put on 7.7lbs so far! I had been up to 9 lbs but lost a pound+ in the last two weeks!

The doctor is fine with it because my little guy is growing perfectly!

The leg cramps stink, and i"ve always found that a big glass of water literally makes them dissapear for me in about 5 minutes!

If i do that and do what Blueeyedtabbycat suggested also w/the foot flat on the ground w/your weight on it... it'll make them dissapear.

Iam 34 weeks and have just started putting on weight....I am now upto 13 lbs. I think your weight gain sounds really good. I wouldnt worry too much about it. As for the leg cramps, that is normal too. I think I heard something about more calcium or potassium helping, not sure whitch, sorry:(  Too  ease the pain you can get up and put your foot flat on the ground and strech  the muscle. Thats probably not a good explaination and again Im sorry I  just know how to do it. I had that with my first pregnancy and woke up several times a week in pain.

Well, I have 5 and w/ my 3rd, for some reason, I didn't start gaining weight until I was about 16 weeks.  I didn't gain any at all.  Then all of a sudden, shortly thereafter, I gained like 6 pounds in 1 month.  So, your baby will probably have a growth spurt at some point.  But you have gained some weight even if not alot.  As I said, I didn't gain any with that pregnancy until I was as far along as you.  That was just a strange pregnancy all together. LOL!

And w/ the leg cramps......I do get those, but I am usually further along.  It is probably nothing, but worth mentioning to your doc.  I have heard that blood clots in the legs are more common in pregnant women and if untreated can be serious.  Now, I'm not trying to scare you.  Leg cramps can be VERY normal with pregnancy.  I just don't remember it starting with me that early on, but all women are different.  Whatever you do, if you need to stretch, don't point your toes.  Big mistake.  Make sure your feet are alway in the flat position if you feel the need to stretch and make sure you drink plenty of water.  I am not a good water drinker but that is important.  I have also heard that bananas are good for the leg cramps also because the potasium helps with that.
