threatened miscarry or actual miscarry

i am a little ove 5 weeks pregnant. i was spotting brown discharge last week and started having what seems to be a light period now that has been going on for 3 days. i went to the er last night to get checked out. the said my hcg is at 211 and my cervix is closed but did not see anything in my uterus and ruled out ectopic pregnancy. they said that it may be too early to see anything in my uterus and its a possible threatened miscarry or i am in the middle of a miscary. i guess i just want to know what other people think what is going on?i am confused. i have more blood work in 2 days to get hscg tested.

My story is similar to yours. The same day i took a pregnancy test i was in the er due to spotting. I was about 4-5 weeks and my levels were at about 80. They told me i was having a "threatened miscarriage" since it was wayyyy too soon to see anything. They checked my levels 2 days later and it doubled and i was spotting until i hit 12 weeks. It was even red and clotty once. I'm now 22 weeks. I'm basically saying don't give up hope yet hopefully they are checking your levels and they are doubling!

Those levels are very low... My levels at 5-6w was 1495. Good Luck..

Thank you. I hope it all goes well too. the doctor was pretty sure that my dates are correct. my last period was march 14 and they gave me a due date of dec19. this waiting game is aweful. i wish there was a deffinite answer. do you all know what the levels should be near around 5 weeks. i know every pregnancy is different but the doctor did tell me that that was rather low.

Hopefully when you get the repeat blood work done your numbers double.  Your numbers do sound a little on the low side.  Is it possible you may not be as far along as you thought?  If they did an ultrasound and didn't see anything it's probably because you need an HCG level about 1,000 to be able to see anything in the uterus.  I hope it's just you are not as far along as you originally thought.  Hope your levels double in the next two day.  Sorry you have to go through all this.  Good luck.

The only way you will be able to know is to have your hCg checked and see if the numbers go up or down. I hope that everything turns out well.
