It sound slike you are giving the right ammount since he is still haveing good bottle intake in a day.
Solid foods should be no more then 4tablesppons in a day broken up how ever you want but no more then 2 meals a day until they are one. Fomula should always be the primary food and most impoartant till age one. They don;t need snacks per say nor breakfast lunch and dinner. Formula is more impoartant in the morning then other solid foods especially if they sllep trough the night, babies tend to eat good in the morning over any other time. but not all do of course.
Babies need to eat at least 5-6 bottles a day of formula or breastmilk on demand till a year old, any less then tehy are not getting the right ammount of nutrients. The need the nutrients in the milk more then the solids. And a variity of colors of solids insures good nutients also! Cereal is lacking and if babies are on formula and eating iron fortied cereal then they are getting to much iron and it can make stuffy noses and them get sick easier, try to look up studies on iron fortified foods and illness.
There is no right way to introduce fruits or veggies as long as you are making sure of allergies. They are all good!
Well Ive already given him fruit in his cereal, so no need to wait for reactions, hes had every flavor in his cereal for 2 months now. i was just curious ast to start it by itself, but im just giving him some at 3 with a bottle, so now he gets 5 solids and 5 bottles a day, still 30 oz of formula aday. and i dont give that much of a solid so im not over feeding him
yes by itself for 3-4 days to make sure no reaction. Until they are 1 year they do not need snacks and are good with 2-3 meals a day of foods no more as they still need the formula/breastmilk as the primary in thier diet.
Breastfed babies do not need any food till a year, but moms can still give them a littel starting after 6 months or when they are sitting unassisted.
You do the same fruit in the morning for 3 days to watch for allergic reactions and then move on to the next one for 3 days, and so on.(you do that with any new food you introduce.... meats, pasta, cheese) This was per my pedi. I found my instruction list on how to intro the foods. Good luck.
i started veggies at dinner and when i introduced her to all the ones i had made, i started fruit. now that ive introduced her to a bunch of fruit i started fruit in the morning and veggies in the evening.
so she gets 1 oz of fruit when she wakes up and 4 oz of formula (she normally has 5) then the next meal is a bottle, and dinner its 1 oz of veggie and 4 of formula..and then bed its 7 oz from a bottle. since she has rice in every bottle, im not going to add another solid during the day. she only eats 4x a day, and they are all TECHNICALLY solid, so i think thats good.
I'm not sure how you want to plan it out, but for my son (10 months), I have generally went with giving him fruit for morning feedings (breakfast, snack), and veggies with meats in the afternoon and evenings. Sometimes I give him a little fruit after dinnertime as dessert. He eats more veggies with meats than he does fruits, because he eats bigger meals in the afternoons and evenings.
by that time i gave my daughter every thing blended i would make chicken soup from scratch and blend some chicken veggies with a little of the broth and she loved it,fruits to and only 3 or 4 bottles a day the Dr.s in Mexico said as long as her belly could handle it it was ok and she was fine so just try it if babys belly can't handle it wait a lil
