No wait needed for pregnancy after miscarriage
For the best pregnancy outcomes, when should a woman try to conceive again after a miscarriage? The sooner the better, a new study suggests. Scottish researchers looked at data for nearly 31,000 women who became pregnant after an initial miscarriage. Compared to women who conceived 6 to 12 months after their miscarriage, those who became pregnant again within 6 months were 34% less likely to miscarry a second time. They were also less likely to have an ectopic pregnancy, a cesarean or preterm delivery, or a low-birth-weight infant. The highest risks of a second miscarriage and other pregnancy complications were seen among women who conceived more than 24 months after miscarriage. The findings run contrary to current guidelines by the World Health Organization to wait at least half a year to conceive after having a miscarriage, which affects approximately one in five pregnancies.

I tested only a day after I was due for my period so I knew I was only 4 weeks. I don't see the dr. for another week but am currently taking progesterone suppositories, due to my prior two misses. I am also seeing a fertility specialist. They said right now they are just looking for a sac, there won't be much more to see. I honestly don't have any symptoms which is odd because the medicine sometimes increases the symptoms, but again, I'm very early. My levels were in the 800s with my progesterone at 17 and they said that was totally normal, keeping my fingers crossed!!!!
Ive lost 3 babies and I am nervous each time I wait for my period. Can I ask when you tested? You said you were 4 weeks - what symptons do you have? I would be about 4 weeks now and just have tender breasts :(
Thank you all so much for the support!!!
You sound just like me, I lost 4 babies and now I'm 5weeks prego and terrified.... I wish you the best of luck, if you need someone to talk too I'm here. But ive learned from here that you can have a successful pregnancy after a lost...
Fingers crossed best of luck sweetie!!
Hi there, Im sure your so nervous!! I too was in your shoes I've had 2 miscarriages the 1st at 6 weeks and the 2nd at 8 weeks, ( heartbeat had stopped) but Im glad to say that im now 39 weeks pregnant :-) I cant believe it!! Infact Im still in awe and still nervous so dont think that will disappear, it does ease as the time goes on and you see the baby growing but I dont think I'll believe it until I see my wee tote in my arms!!
Good luck and try to stay calm, if you get a good Doctor that will help too!! I really hope everything works out for you.
Fingers crossed xxx
dcm - go ahead and tell your hubby. You will want his support no matter what happens! Next, many of us go on to have healthy pregnancies. I am one of those ladies! Currently 21 weeks and my little girl is healthy. :) Like others said, the fear never really leaves. I am really good for a week or two after my appointment (I've had u/s at everyone so far), but then I convince myself that something is wrong, when it's not, and it all turns out to be ok. Like I convinced myself last week that Ava was no longer moving and I couldn't feel her. Well, last night she wouldn't stay still! LOL! My appointment is tomorrow and now I have convinced myself that half of her heart is missing....the ultrasound tomorrow will show she is doing great, but it's hard to believe that all the time!
Try to relax and enjoy this pregnancy - that's all we can really do! :) Good luck and God bless!
I had 2 miscarriages this year, one at 12 weeks and the other at 5 weeks. I am currently pregnant with a baby girl due in March who is doing beautifully. Its definitely possible to have a healthy pregnancy and its definitely possible for it to happen quickly. Of course the paranoia will never go away, most liely an OB would give you an early ultrasound. I had one at 6 weeks and 8 weeks to ensure everything looked fine. Best of luck to you
Well you have come to the right place because there are tons of women on here that have had healthy pregnancies after miscarrages including my self. I have 1 son and then had 2 miscarrages and then now Im 32 weeks pregnant and everything Thank the Lord is going good!!! You will be fine!!
