Postpartum Rash

Hi Everyone! I had my son 3 weeks ago and within the past week I have noticed a nasty rash developing on my body. At first it was just on my legs and now it has gotten worse and its pretty much everywhere but my neck and face. Looks like a rash..small bumps, very itchy and when I itch them really bad they turn red. It seems to get worse everyday! I'm not allergic to anything and I haven't changed anything in my diet or used any new lotions or body washes or anything like that. Really the only thing that has changed is, I had a baby! So I didn't know if it was hormonal ? My husband doesnt have it...so I dont think its contageous since I've had it over a week now and he hasn't gotten it. But its really itchy and drives me crazy! Has anyone experienced this after giving birth? Any insight on what it might be? I'm kinda worried!

i had the same thing after i had Gabe....it was all in my stomach area...it got really really bad...i ened up in the ER and i was rushed with the ambulance to the main hospital where Gabe was (he was still in the nicu than) anywas i dont mean to scare you, they actually scared the heck of out me....but it turned out it was a skin infection...and they cought on time and i was in the hospital for like 2 days with IVs running trought 24 hrs of antibiotics i was told that if i would have waited another day it could have been mortal....when i heard that i just about died!

So i think you should go to your drs. have someone take a look it at...maybe its not that bad where you need IVs but do it now or could just be nothing...maybe a reaction from the anathesia but i would rather make sure.

Good Luck Gina and congrats on you new baby boy..hes precious!

Yea I don't have a fever or anything either. Just the itchy bumps all over! I really hope it hormonal and will be gone soon because nothing like this has ever happened to me. But I must admit I haven't been drinking hardly any water. When I was Pregnant, I couldn't get enough now I can't stand it!
Thanks for the response!
